I love how deep their color is! When I got my RF she had some pyramiding and I always get jealous when I see nice smooth shells! She was a rescue, they got her from a pet store like Pet Smart and kept her for about 8 years. No proper diet or temp/humidity. But she is a happy girl non the less!
Thanks, in the past I've realized it was cooler in the low 60's and I have went out and got her. Then I put her in a warm enclosure and never notice any watery eyes or sluggishness. But since she stayed outside all night I panicked. Having a panic disorder means I panic a lot so I wanted to...
Her eyes are no longer watery. I soaked her for a while, she ate really good, Now that shes been in since this morning under a heat lamp, she seems as normal as she was yesterday. Do you think she is sick after only one night of cool temps?
I will do these things. She hates to be soaked so I will wait til later in the day once she isn't pissed at me! I will keep her inside for the next few days, because its only going to be in the mid 80's here. Thanks for the advice.
I feel like the worse tortoise mom ever! I did not know that the temps were going to drop into the 50's last night. I leave my red foot out during the summer when temps are above 65. I know that being super busy should not be an excuse but man we have been so busy and I didn't get home til late...
AWWW Tucker is so pretty. Mrs. T is around 10-11. I took her in about 2.5 years ago, they thought she was 8 or so then. I would love to see a picture of all of Tucker.
Thanks, I have never spent any time trying to determine if she was anything other than just a red foot. So all of the care and information I read was not specific to to a type. I was getting a little nervous I may have done something incorrect.
Is there a big difference in care for the two? When Mrs. T came to me she was not as colorful as she is now, her red spots were very pale and her skin was so dry. I am happy to know that how beautiful you guys think she is! I sure love her so much!!!
Here are some new pictures of Little M, she is doing so well! I have her a large dog kennel outside where she spends most of her afternoons . She is eating the tort food well now, along with as much green leafy plants as she wants. Her eyes look so much better, her shell isn't as depressed...
No, my husband just has it set out for a decoration in our yard, I needed something to add heat for her for the morning so she could enjoy all day outside! I just grabbed it! ☺️
I agree I think she looks so much better as well! I love that she is doing better and feeling more active! She drinks so much water, she empties her little bowl every other day and I soak her often! Thanks for all the support!
I have posted a few times about a new tortoise I took in and have received so much good advice so I thought I would ask how to cut her nails. She is 15 years old and is starting to be more active. I was waiting to cut her nails until she was stronger and in better health. I will post some...
Thank you! I honestly don't have an idea. I took her in a littler over 2.5 years ago. She has some slight pyramiding that has gotten better over the years and her color is much better than when I first got her. I would have to ask others as to what exactly she is. All I know is she is by far my...
I posted an update, no idea how to share the link, if there is even a way to, but its labeled "update on sick tort, little M" I added a few new pictures of her & she is doing really well!
I have had Mrs. T for 2.5 years, she is such a great pet! Its been cooler here, but finally up in the low 70's so I put her outside this morning. I still have lots of work on her outdoor pen but she seems to be loving it! Wanted to post some pictures of her for y'all to enjoy!
I have had little M for about 2 weeks now. She seems to be doing much better, standing on all 4 legs with her under shell lifted off the ground. I have been feeding her daily with an added vitamin sprinkled on her food every other day! She is under a basking light as well as a UVB light, I still...
