i did not advise anything, how could I if i did not even see the tortoise. I was giving him my best guesses that match his description, never in there said I he should do what I said, you are reading a bit too much into it. and no, sulcatas are not prone to shell rot, but have they ever? yes...

the necks used to be longer because they had to graze above ground, the shell shape would have naturally reacted to it by bending at the middle inward, hence the saddle back. no matter what they do they will not bring that back because their tortoises are now fed off the ground. like with foxes...
