Hi there, I moved to Germany two years ago with a now three-year-old Cherry Head Red Foot named Scooter. She has definitely slowed down in eating now. It is too cold to have her outside now overnight. I have seen conflicting posts, does this species hibernate or just slow down. For her...
We have been here for 2 weeks now. I have her in a terrarium set her up yesterday. I did increase the temp on her cold side by 5 degrees. Her behavior still seems pretty normal. She is very active and her appetite remains.
Sabine, thank you so much. I actually have an appointment on Wednesday at 1630 with Dr. Häfner. I will let you know how it goes. She is still trucking along. Appetite is great and as it gets warmer out this week we will go outside.
Hi there, I just posted about a potential respiratory infection with my little Cherryhead Red Foot. Since we moved her stools are not as normal as before, but yesterday she had a big one. Her behavior totally normal even wanting to be outside more. The temperatures in Germany have been warmer...
Hello there, I just moved to Germany from the U.S. and have a 16 month old Cherryhead Red Foot that accompanied me. Unfortunately, I have her in an improvised terrarium until my set up arrives. I am using a plastic tote and I have her substrate (sphagnum moss), heating pad, modified hide...
Reading this makes me feel better, because I was just at the vet and my CH (Scooter) grew 200 grams in approximately 9 months. Her 1 year birthday will be next month (tomorrow I guess). Will take pictures of her party!!!
In June she weighed 67 grams (3 mos). Today, 275.5 grams (9 mos).
Hello all, I am moving to Europe in a couple of months and currently have my 10 month old in a 20 gallon terrarium with coconut fiber and sphagnum moss as a substrate. I also have the humidifier pumped in with the tube. My question is how do you tort-table folks keep the humidity up. I have a...
Nope, more like grubs. They keep in the refrigerator too. Here is a picture so that you can see the size in relation to a dime. Also, this is a smaller one.
Hello fellow tort-parents, I had read the previous postings on feeding butterworms and did some additional research on when to start feeding butterworms to my 10 month old Cherryhead Red-Foot (Scooter). After consulting my vet, she suggested it was a good time to incorporate butterworms into...
Thanks for the response. I am very concerned now. I just cleaned out her terrarium and took some more shots of her shell and her environment. I did use a soft tooth brush and some warm water. Let me know you all think. Thanks
Hello all, I have a 9 month old CH named Scooter. She is very active, and becoming more curious coming to the glass looking out. Scooter has a healthy appetite loving dandelion greens and her tortoise food. I was a little concerned about the marbling on top of her scute, but after reading...
Hello all, I would like to know more about what normal looks like for my 9 month old Cherry head. She continues to be very active. I have noticed the marbling on her shell, which I was told is normal.
I know I have been flying over the past week and made some inquiries. I was wondering if there was a quarantine process once arriving in Germany. That is why I tried contacting the Consulate. I am hoping I can just carry her on with me. Just pack her in a container with substrate where she...

Thanks so much Joe's Mum. I did the translation, reached out to those folks, and also reached out to the breeder in the States I bought her from. I really appreciate the help. I hope I can take her with me.
Tort lovers, I have a baby cherryhead Red Foot (Scooter) I have had since May from a Las Vegas breeder. I just accepted a position in Germany and I really want to take her with me. I have not had much luck finding out what is needed to take her. I know of the CITES document, which I am hoping...
