Hey everyone,
I am trying to decide what to do about my situation. If you could please read below and tell me what you think, I would really appreciate any advice.
Some details:
I used to live in the northernmost part of Michigan. In February, some people vacated their apartment and left...
I tried using purified water today and his eyes still swelled up. Admittedly, I didn't spend a lot of time reading the labels and picked one up that is "enhanced with minerals." Ugh, slow and steady... next time I will be more patient.
I bought a couple of packets of dandelion seeds and planted a bunch in a container. I was wondering if someone could verify that this is what little dandelions look like. I cannot find pictures or videos of newly grown dandelions anywhere, and I wasn't expecting them to look like this.
I...
I will start adding even more water to his substrate then. It had been staying wet underneath the surface, but the top level was getting dry quickly. Instead of misting it, I will just pour water in and mix it around. Hopefully that helps.
As for the water, I think there is chlorine in the...
I have noticed a few times that George's eyes are swollen. It isn't all the time, but it still causes me concern. I have been watching him carefully since noticing this, trying to figure out what is irritating his eyes.
The eco earth under his light gets dry too fast. I get it wet and within...
Ummm yeah :P I don't need to know my age very often so I don't remember it. Changes every year anyway, so what's the point, hahaha.[hr]
What is that? It's so huge! Doesn't it hurt to fire?
This thread is awesome :) My turn! I'm Mindy from Houghton, MI and I am 22 or 23.
Last summer:
This past Christmas Eve:
After dying my hair a few weeks ago:
I have a tiny glass bowl that I put a little bit of warm water in. Then I drop 3-5 pellets in the bowl and mash them up with a fork. If the pellets don't absorb all of the water, then I add one or two more. My tortoise doesn't like the pellets, but I slip a few in every day so he gets used to...
Yep, he has a half log. He was using it a lot until the change. When I left a few hours ago, he was asleep in it for the first time since Friday. I think that's an improvement :)
He has a heat lamp that he hangs around quite a bit.
Haha :P Mine doesn't really move stuff around at all...
Hi everyone,
This past Friday, I was finally able to remove all the newspaper from George's enclosure and replace it with eco earth. I also have a plastic tub filled with towels that he likes to burrow in, some rocks grouped together for a little variety in walking, and two piles of timothy...
I pick him slowly and I always make sure he can see my hand before I touch him. He doesn't pee right when I lift him up, but after maybe 2 minutes.
I used to pick him up every day. After reading that they don't like being handled, I tried to not touch him as much. I didn't pick him up at all...
I have had my tortoise for almost a month now. When I first got him and for the first 2 and half weeks, he always relieved himself either while soaking or while eating. He never did it while I held him or any other time. Just over a week ago, I added soil to his enclosure (he was living on...
Thank you all for your input & advice.
I didn't mean to use the timothy hay as substrate. I want to use eco earth as substrate (just soaked a brick today). But for the hay, as a pile for him to dig in. He already has a log hide that he seems to enjoy. Today, he was only interested in climbing...
I went to walmart looking for aspen shavings. Right now George is living on mostly newspaper and a small corner of eco earth. I didn't see any aspen, but I did pick up timothy hay as I recalled reading about it online before. When I got back home, I double checked that timothy hay was okay for...
