Found a snapper baby in my chicken's beak

Thought I'd post an update on Scratch. I've moved him into a 120 gallon aquarium at my store as he quickly outgrew his previous enclosure. He is up to 500 grams and eating like a pig (except for greens).

Found a snapper baby in my chicken's beak

Scratch is back to eating again. I learned that he is in fact a male after getting flashed when I picked him up to weigh him.

Found a snapper baby in my chicken's beak

Today he ate some salmon. Hoping the trend continues. Still trying to work out the water issues.

    Water test strip interpretation

Those are great ideas, thank you! I haven't tested the water with the new test kit yet, by the time I got done changing water and cleaning the filter I just didn't have the focus left to learn how to use the kit. So, I brought it with me to work and I'm going to read the instructions today and...

    Water test strip interpretation

That is interesting! I do have sand! Not a lot, but it’s still a thin layer covering the bottom.

    Water test strip interpretation

I just picked one of those kits up this afternoon when I picked up filter parts, going to use it tomorrow after work. I did a partial change, again, and cleaned the filter and replaced floss and foam. Hopefully that'll help!

    Water test strip interpretation

Can someone with more experience look at these results and tell me what the best course of action is? I did a 50% water change this morning and re-tested and the results were the same. I've not done a 100% water change since I started the tank, which was last September. I am planning to clean...

Found a snapper baby in my chicken's beak

Update on Scratch: up to 254g. "He" has recently become picky and has stopped eating, but I imagine it is temporary like in the tortoises. The leg is still the same. Assuming that the food tantrum stops soon, I'm planning on upgrading the tank this year. I'll get an updated photo soon.

    My boys...2.5 years old

In the winter I feed them escarole, endive, frisee, occasionally spring mix when I can't find anything else, Belgian endive and raddichio as treats, some mazuri here and there, wheat grass and a dried flower/weed mix that I sprinkle on top of their greens. In the nicer weather I feed them more...

    My boys...2.5 years old

Yeah, I guess it just depends. I've heard of some smaller than mine that are the same age and some that are bigger, so who knows :)
