Not much has changed from my 2016 enclosure for Scutes. Other than the grass and weeds getting taller, and Scutes getting bigger. Enjoy!
The corner pieces are super easy to work with and very inexpensive. They can be found here...
Title basically says it all. What would be the best method of keeping a Leopard tortoise warm at night in an open air enclosure? And could you keep him warm while he's enclosed in a hide with a top to it? Thanks.
I bought my leopard tortoise, Scutes, around 4 years ago when he was a hatchling. Back then I really didn't read the right information and was pretty ignorant when it came to baby tortoises, so Scutes does have a good bit of pyramiding. I don't believe that the pyramiding is still growing.
My...
Around 6 years ago I bought a Russian Tortoise at petco. I was younger, and I didn't know that you really shouldn't buy tortoises from places from Petco because their suppliers usually treat them awfully and take them from their natural habitats, instead of breeding them locally.
So naturally...
Here in Pennsylvania, some days have been getting fairly warm (low to mid 60's) so I've been taking my Leopard to his outdoor enclosure to spend an hour or two getting some exercise, eating weeds, and absorbing some of that natural sunlight.
However, I've seen some posts by people saying that a...
Hey everyone!
I have a Russian and Leopard Tortoise outdoor enclosure and go in there frequently to check up on them, water the plants in their enclosures, refill their water dishes, feed them, ect. Almost every time I go out there, my Leopard walks up to my foot and kind of sniffs it, and just...
Found this near my Russian and Leopard's enclosure (just to clarify, they do not share the same enclosure, they're just close together).
Was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is, and if the torts can eat it, thanks!
Baby cousins in South Carolina found this baby turtle. I was thinking it was a box turtle, but I have no idea. If anyone could tell me, that'd be great!
Thanks!
Sorry pictures are blurry :P
Hey everyone!
I made some changes to my outdoor enclosure. I added the logs as some sight barriers because I was told that it would get him out of his bush and make him roam around more. And it definitely worked. He loves exploring for new weeds to graze on.
I also dug a hole in the bottom...
I usually keep my RT in a closed, around 20x8 garden. However, vinegar was just used in the garden to try and kill off some weeds. Is it safe to leave my Russian in there?
I went to Giant today and picked up this cactus pad. It didn't have any identification, it just said "Cactus Leaf". If this is safe for my torts, how would I go about getting the little thorns off it? Thanks.
My leopard tortoise recently had a 8x10 outdoor enclosure built for him, and it's kinda empty. He has a good sized bush that he LOVES to hide under. I wanted some suggestions for other plants/bushes that aren't too big that can encourage him to move around the enclosure and not feel so exposed...
I recently built my Leopard a new 8x10 outdoor pen for him to go in. He really likes to go under this one bush in the corner of his enclosure. He just likes to chill under there, and occasionally he'll come out of the bush for a bask. Is this normal? He has access to food and water, and...
I have an around 7" leopard tortoise and was wondering is it safe to leave him out at night in a heated night box. Night temperatures here are in the low 40s, so if I had something like a heat pad in a closed box, would he be ok?
Thanks.
Hey everyone, just wanted to share my new outdoor enclosure. I used @ZEROPILOT 's idea with these Planter Blocks, and they really worked well. I live in Pennsylvania currently, so my Leopard only has about a quarter of the year to be outside. So these Planter Blocks will make it super convenient...
