Bob clearly needs the celebrity worship event every now and then. He is exceptionally interactive with humans, friends as well as strangers! Impossible not to notice Bob, and easy to like him.
Agreed. I tell my students, neighbors, and the neighborhood kids who come by to admire Taco that tortoises are HIGH maintenance pets. Bob is a lucky tort to have his yard, heated shed, custom water hole, specialty diet and constant attention and care. No wonder he's so comfortable and confident...
Bob is bigger than life. He has a personality that reaches out and grabs you. He's living proof that animals, even reptiles, are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. The world deserves Bob. And Maggie, who "trains" him. Best chelonian rescuer ever.
Bob is such a big character and his adventures have consistently entertained the forum members for years.
I am looking forward to meeting him in person next month, and so are my kids. A bona fide Chelonian celebrity. ;)
Those Chaco photos warmed my heart...what my Taco would look like with a perfect shell. A mirror image of my sweetheart!
Thanks. It's nice to see such a perfect specimen. :)
And definitely submit again for next year's calendar. A Chaco would be the perfect addition to that...
Amazing photos by such creative and talented photographers... I vote split screen for next year, so we can include 24 exceptional photographs instead of just 12. ;)
Definitely owned by a group. Yvonne, Maggie, Jacqui, TerryO, Tom, madkins007, dmmj , N2torts (for all the great photos)...former members Meg90, Egyptian Dan, and so many others. Not because of off-forum fame, but for how much and how often they help tortoise owners do a better job of raising...
That's what I'm talkin' about...close ups!
Looks like that step may be a bit high for the admiral to heft himself onto...though since there's food at the top, he's sure to succeed in time. ;)
Nelson in California. Hope the other torties don't make fun of his accent. :tort:

I sympathize with Waterboy's sentiment. One of the reasons I left this forum was that I was so tired of seeing "Help, my tortoise is sick" or "My tortoise passed away" threads, especially in the Sulcata section. The only more common thread title was "Hi, I'm a new Sulcata owner and brand new...
Nelson probably just need lots of reassurance and maybe a snack or two to get his energy back. ;)
We have had relentless heat here in Colorado this summer, and I've noticed that Taco gets very active around 95 degrees (wants to break out through the garden fence and go for walks), but when it...
