That makes total sense! There is a bit of a step up onto the driveway he has to navigate when I let him in the front yard to eat while I garden… maybe he stumbled there. I guess in 10 years I haven’t seen what a sulcata stubbed toe looks like!
I noticed a reddened area on Panzers foot today and my vet doesn’t open until Monday morning. Anyone have any thoughts? Maybe just damaged/pinched? I checked his shell and other feet thoroughly and there are no other red areas. He has been acting/eating/drinking normally and enjoying the spring...
It's been awhile since I've been on but my guys have been growing great, and I do mean guys looks like all three are boys (so much for temp sexing). We're working on permanent retaining walls to separate everyone's territory, until then I'm sure my neighbors love my combo of blocks and logs...
So I cant figure out how to delete....but my boyfriend walked in with her the second I hit send. She found a hole in the fence out back and was in the neighbors yard
Putting this up here just in case, I have a 2 year old sulcata that my boyfriend let roam the yard while I was away (I'm sure I told him to only let the big guy out unattended) We're not sure she's missing but its been 30 ish hours now and I cannot find her anywhere. Just putting this out here...

seriously I was just not paying attention enough to brace myself, caught me completely by surprise. But those bones...turtle heads totally have 8 4 inch long bones
So I was too busy bitching about that red foot being non native to realize that she was about to eat it and was caught off guard, I gasped and my boyfriend rolled his eyes like obviously she ate it. I'm still mad that they weren't representing w native boxies :)
They are called pearl scale goldfish and were bred to have pearled scales (calcium deposit under the scale that makes it look round) and a fat deposit on either side of the rib cage to add roundness. I found mine from a rather questionable ebay seller as explained above. They are less common...
@Prairie Mom heres a video from last night, I was sneaky so as not to scare them so its a bit dark and blurry but you can see them come up off the bottom. One even gets caught in the bubbles around 2 minutes, then you see my cat jump up and ruin everything ;)
Thanks! I love them too. They were literally straight out of the shipping bag in this video so I think they were just scared and stressed. In the couple of days since this video they've become much more active. I bought them from a distributor not a breeder and I think they are more skittish...
