Yea I feed my little guys chicken they love it, they still eat their pellet foods but they love, chicken and red wigglers. I have also thrown in chopped up boiled egg whites. I think unseasoned people food is fine, it's people food like Mcdonalds that no one or anything for that matter should eat.
Yea the law is pretty lenient but they group sub species together and than limit them. But laws change, but only for native species.
There are no limits on non-native species like the easterns, but really eventually I'd like to have pens for all of them and once we move we should have the...
You haven't met my baby, there is no baby proof, you just hope to survive.......:D
During the long winter month here, I used a kiddie pool to let the little torts get some exercise, just clear the floor, drop the plastic pool down and let them go, easy to clean up.
Yea I plan to work with the local rescue and adopt some 3 toeds, but I'd also like some easterns and or some ornates. Mainly Easterns since we have no restrictions on them here.
I haven't been online much, dealing with the kids and this staff infection.
I was looking at some pics, and I think it was there from day one, I just don't think we noticed it, they were really shy and closed up for a while, but now they are out and will swim right into my hand.
Here is...
I have my little musk in with DBT's so he has a basking light, but he's never used it, he's rarely even on that side of the aquarium much less basking under it.
It would work, but really I would just get an internal filter and some real rock for basking on. I used a tetra internal for a temporary 30 gallon setup while I built our 55 gallon tank and I really liked it, easy to clean and quite...
It seems to be the same size, been tied up with my son, of all things he caught a staff infection from my oldest daughter who caught it from a kid I said she shouldn't play with and now my wife agrees. Anyways he had a boil and we've dealing with it and we still are dealing with it.
I'm pretty...
I can see both sides of the argument, but in all reality if everyone world wide stopped buying Cypress mulch, the by product and immature trees would be used for something else, fuel, toilet paper, something. It's the lumber they are really after, mulch is just an added revenue.
The only thing...
Yea I have to agree with Jacqui on this one and I've been known to mix species of animals. Redfoot's diet needs are to different from sulcatas, the sulcata is gonna want all the fruits and goodies the Redfoot gets and that is just bad for the sulcata.
Also there are people who have kept...
Huey is still acting normal, swimming around chasing fish and eating pellets and worms. I'll keep monitoring him closely, he'd probably prefer I quit starring at him.
He simply has a different approach, it is a great site with great info but Tom has provided some great research also and documented his results. Of course in the end the decision is yours.
Personally I do not do the daily soaks, they get a bath either weekly or when they need it. I do see...
I have some in with my Hermann's, some in with My Leopards and some with my sulcata, no problems at all. They are not aggressive creatures, I can not imagine them attacking a tortoise. I do not keep them with my Redfoots because my redfoots are 4 - 6"s and would probably try and snack on the...
Alright well this has taken longer than I thought...LOL But in my spare time I managed to get it built and stained, finally complete.
Lots of Pics for viewing enjoyment
