Thank you for your replies. Unfortunately though he passed away this morning. He was staying at a friends house while I was moving into my new house. He actually got him to eat some and he became more active walking around his temporary enclosure, but when I went over to pick him up he was gone. :(
This winter I had a bunch of dandelions growing in my yard so I was offering those while they lasted. I am about to move to a new house on the first and I think I could try growing some stuff there. What would you recommend? And I havn't tried mazuri, but I am familiar with it. Where do you get...
Hello everyone. I haven't been active on this forum for quite a while, but I have returned because I am very worried about my baby golden greek tortoise. Lately he has not been eating, and he also will not move around at all. If anyone could give me some advice I would appreciate it so much...
No two tortoises look exactly the same, just like no two people look the same, and no two dogs look the same. As you spend enough time with your torts you should be able to identify them simply by looking at them. Not necessarily by a "birth mark", but rather just by the uniqueness of each ones...
I saw that ad a well.
I don't see any reason it should be put down unless it is extremely uncoordinated or obviously has a poor quality of life. It would probably have special needs and would require more attention, but there are always people out there willing to provide that kind of care.
Megaray, in my opinion, is the best. Hands down.
Unfortunately they have been having some significant problems over the past few months and most of their bulbs have been unavailable for quite some time. I have been rocking the exoterra solar glo with my iguana and have no complaints so far...
I'll definitely be browsing CL looking for them. What gets me is that whoever took them probably hans't any clue how to take care of them... poor little guys :([hr]
We may also want to look on other forums where these guys might be trying to figure out what species they are or something... just...
It's actually one of those Zilla reptile terrariums. http://www.zilla-rules.com/products/fresh-air-screen-habitat.htm
It's the 30L x 18W x 30H. I used it originally for my iguana when he was little. After he moved out I took that terrarium and set it on its back to increase the floor space...
Thank you! I'm planning on building a little box to put it in soon. That way he can't see out, and I can hopefully stop having to pick up dirt off my desk and floor haha. Every time he walks around the edge of the cage soil just spills through the screen.
Yea I would say you simply need more wattage. Especially if it's an open-air enclosure (which it should be, and it sounds like it is). That mercury vapor bulb should do the trick. He'll appreciate the extra UVB also.
I'm not too sure about your substrate though... anything with walnut shells...
I actually kept the tort in a different enclosure until the grass had fully grown in. And yes, I am fully aware that the UV wavelength cannot penetrate fine screen. That's why I completely removed the screen in that section :). I started to cut it out, then realized there was an elastic band...
Thought I'd share some pictures of my tortoise enclosure. It's 30" x 30" and 18" high. Has about 4-5 inches of 50/50 coconut husk/garden soil mix for substrate. A hide cave which is currently blocked by the sideways pot (I'll open it up when he gets a little bigger, I feel the hide is too open...
