    Lucy the Little Guy

I’m pretty sure I know who your “mentor” is and obviously is your mentor for a reason. After all, can’t argue with years/decades of success! I sure do love them when they are that young. I wonder if they realize how big they will one day get. Make sure to post many pics as we all love seeing...

    DIVA, OUR NEW ADDITION

I have to say, Diva is my favorite one out of your group. Such a wonderful story with her and a total beauty in person. These animals continue to amaze me everyday. We truley are blessed to experience them the way we do.

    ALDABRA TORTOISE BREEDER

Thank you. She most certainly loves her cactus pads! I won’t worry about leaving pads laying around for them like you have. Funny thing is, my yearling never seemed to enjoy pads. He would take a bite and that would be it. After seeing Sally chowing down on the pads, he immediately started to...

    ALDABRA TORTOISE BREEDER

You get some crazy amazing angles on some of these videos LOL. We can readily get pads anytime and ours (4 and 1 yr olds) love them. I feel like given the oppourtunity they would keep eating them so I sort of just give it to them for a treat here and there but only after their serving of...

    ALDABRA TORTOISE BREEDER

I’m sure it’s been asked in this thread a few times but how often and how much do you give them cactus pads?

    Uncle Bri Update

Thanks Ben for taking the time to get back to me. There’s a plethora of reviews and information on the topic of lighting. At the end of the day two factors played a major role in my decision of which lighting to go with. The first is the quality of UVB output and the second is ease of getting...

    Proud new Daddy!

*** pic taken 1/4 1/12 Well there has been a new development and Kaci now has a new buddy. Thank you @ALDABRAMAN for everything. I plan to start a new thread with the full story shortly. Vet visit scheduled for tomorrow and hopefully quarantine won’t be needed. As for Kaci, she’s surpassed...

I keep Kaci’s hide humid and hot (mid 80’s) as well. She seems to be much more active since I’ve increased the temp in her hide. I keep Kaci indoors during our rough winter with regulated temps and humidity. I still notice distinct growth/activity/eating cycles.

Growth of Turbo, February 2017 Aldabra Giant Tortoise.

Turbo’s growth rate seems to be in line with my Kaci. She just broke the 1,000 gram mark as well. Look forward to your updates!

    Proud new Daddy!

Sorry for not updating in a while.... Well Kaci has doubled in weight in the 3 months I’ve had her! She has been growing like a weed! It’s crazy how fast this species grows. A couple of things I’ve observed about Kacie are the distinct growth/eating cycles she goes through, and her fondness...

Great pics Greg! Do you have any pics of a hatchling next to a yearling? Would love to see a comparison. Most of the "hatchlings" we see are already 4-6 months old and over 4".

    "Cupcake"

These creatures live to be over 100 years old easy, markings are inevitable. I totally understand how you feel though but don't feel bad. Cupcake is a beautiful Aldabra!

    New Tort

Great info. I appreciate you taking the time to share. I agree, the stands are expensive for what they are (quite flimsy actually) but they seem to do the job well. Your set up looks great.

Nice set up! What camera do you have? I'm looking into getting one myself, I'm tired of trying to be a ninja to spy on my Aldabra so I don't disturb it,LOL.Is there a phone ap to go along with the camera? What type of lighting do you have? I use the zoo med power sun 160 watt MVB and the zoo med...
