Hookworms :-/
Medicine for both torts.
And, to spice things up a bit, medicine for my wife and I, the dog and the cat !
We certainly connected, that's darn sure !
Cheers anyway,

Thx All,
I did send poop samples (for both of them) to a herp vet. The "less-than-solid-poop grab" was a fantastic experience. I looked at the tort, the tort looked into my eyes. I think we connected...
Should I still cut down on fruits since these 2 fellas are RFs ? They usually get a rough...
-- Update & Correction --
Poop looked "flaky" (as in small thin pieces of leaves) in soaking water, it is not.
It is actually a classic diarrhea poop once observed on dry land... Basically one of my torts has the runs, the other does not, although they eat the same stuff.
No pic worth posting...
Howdy All,
I have 2 juvenile RFs, acquired a month and a half ago.
They live outdoor under good sub-tropical conditions (we live in Hong Kong) and I feed them an assortment of kale, local fruits (papaya, mangoes, dragon fruit, longyan...), some greens such as mixed lettuce, a bit of zucchini...
Howdy All,
I would also love to know which type of hibiscus is apparently toxic to torts. We have plenty of those on our balcony and terrace, some yellow, some white and some red. All acquired under the name "hibiscus". They don't seem to have a specific name for each kind in Chinese.
My torts...
Hope all of you, your loved ones, and torts found safe shelter !
Hong Kong got hit by a double-tap. Typhoon Pakhar landed us early Sunday morning, less than 72 hrs after Typhoon Hato...
Probably not as severe, but still a very heavy punch on an already battered Hong Kong and Macau :-/

Rejuvenating this thread with my recent experience :)
My two rf juvenile seem to simply love swimming. I was totally taken aback upon doing a little test in a large plastic bucket i placed slanted on the floor and filled with some warm water. It made for a very mild "no water to deep water"...
Just went through Typhoon Hato here in Hong Kong 2 days back, it was bad, but we were prepared.
The cat, the dog, the wife and the 2 rf torts are still hiding under the sofa...
Stay safe fellow tort keepers !
Cheers,
Beep-Beep
I really have a mixed bag of feelings reading this thread, anyone else ?
Educative : i didn't know that, lots to learn
First Aid Solution : the sugar paste
Funny : the "twisted willy" and "dangling" references
Painful : the "twisted willy" reference, coincidentally
Thankful : I'm not a male...
Howdy All,
I recently added plants picked off the terrace and transplanted them into my juvenile rfs outdoor enclosure. A few days on, ants running all over the place. A quick check back at the flower pots on the terrace did confirm ants had settled in...
Got me worried since the torts have...
Yummy !!!
Selfish-Me : keep a bunch of those for your torts, and make jams for yourself. Please someone tell me rf torts don't eat jam...
My wife has become extremely protective of the mangoes and papayas I bring home. "Stay away, those are for Dumb & Dumber, you can have a glass of tap water...
My two redfoot juvenile torts debating what's for dinner...
They spend hours flipping back and forth, leaving me with not enough time for the actual cooking. They always end up with raw veggies and fruits, poor things.
Cheers,
Beep-Beep
Love this thread !
My little rf torts are jumping around impatiently, all those are either dead cheap at the fresh market or simply up for grab on my weekend strolls :-)
Are the Chinese Wampi (or Wampee) ok ? The Latin name is Clausena Lansium, or is that Swahili ? I suck at both.
They look...
Hey Dazzin, this is certainly the place for good advise on tort-care. I am totally new with the tort world and will be following this thread closely.
The Knowledgeable Ones will bombard you with questions ref. humidity / temp / diet / enclosure and such :-) You might just as well get those...
