    Weed ID app

dang i didn't know bumping was a no no :( Ken: I just downloaded it yesterday but haven't had a chance to use it yet...I took a bunch of pictures of wildflowers on a Fallbrook cleared Chapparrel hillside and wanted to see if they could ID them, but then I synced my phone and the pics aren't on...

    Safe to eat?

whether it's hensbit, as I suggested, or gill over ground, as Laramill suggested, i'm sure the tortoisetable will have something similar to say about them: they're closely related and wikipedia lists both as edible to humans

    ID help please

That first one looks a lot like some of the weeds my grandmother had in her garden when I was a kid...and she lived in the pacific northwest as well...it looks to be close to putting up a flower, if you can get a clear picture of the flower once it blooms, I might be able to tell if it's a type...

Did I hit a weed lottery?

1 and 5 are definitely some kind of Lamiaceae...if not ground ivy, perhaps lemonbalm? does it have any kind of odor?

What is this, and Is it safe ?

It's still hard to tell from the pictures as they seem a little out of focus, but I'd tentatively go w/Yvonne's ID of Tradescantia...maybe Tradescantia ohiensis? the close up of the flower seems to have only 2 petals rather than the 3 typical of the species, but maybe it's an anomaly or the...

I want to say bittercress but not convinced

based on your two suggestions, I would go w/the latter: it doesn't quite look like bittercress, especially in the flower, so I don't think that's it. that said: this doesn't grow in Southern California, so I've never seen it...but from google image search, I think Cochlearia genus might be a...

    What is this?

those little white flowers look as though they are from some sort of bulb or tuber: in general, bulbs such as allium, daffodil, hyacinth, lillium are not supposed to be fed. the first 3 pictures you posted do look like some type of lactuca or prickly lettuce, but the one w/the heavily serrated...

    Are these ok?

not a problem, jbms, I just saw a picture in the first post that was obviously not of your weed and wondered how posting it could possibly help you in your situation. The second photo looks more like a spurge than purselane: i believe that's a 'feed in moderation', although I seem to recall some...

    Are these ok?

it looks like your picture is from here: http://www.delange.org/DaleaParry/DaleaParry.htm if so, it's not very helpful to submit a picture that isn't actually of the plant you are trying to ID...at best you will just find someone confirming that the website is correct in their ID of what they...

    Plant ID please

well...the first one does kind of look like some kind of carrot, but you should check queen anne's lace and other wild carrots against water hemlock first (as Hemlock is poisonous whereas those others are not) [hr] your second photo set is of common mallow: edible.

    Mystery plant

'and my mom decided to grab it and "accidentally" took it in the plane. (Which is illegal right?)' uh, yup: I wouldn't generally encourage that sort of thing. I agree w/Yvonne, tho:definitely a jade plant...the smaller plant in the background almost looks like something different though, but...

    first tortoise (an I.D. please)

the first picture is bouganivillea, here is what tortoisetable has to say about it: http://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/site/plants_19.asp?st=true&mode=main&catID=702 the second plant looks like oleandar, which is toxic.

Ibera Greek - Outdoor House Question

here it is: http://www.tortoiseforum.org/thread-33273.html [hr] my outdoor enclosure also has a higher soil level than the surrounding ground, so it drains well: keeps the hide from getting flooded or swampy, but honestly, even after some pretty substantial (for Socal) downpours, I've gone out...

Ibera Greek - Outdoor House Question

I've got a Jordanian Greek tortoise (based on IDing from folks on here) and this year I've left him outside almost all winter. I took him inside during the freeze and rain of November, but other than that he has been outside and is doing fine. I built a hardware cloth and cement "burrow" for him...
