Hi again from the Hudson Valley NY Caspian (approx 4 mos old Russian) is doing well. Gained 1.27 grams. Eating well and his eyes much better. Still struggling to get humidity right. It's 68% right now near his basking spot and temp 93. What should I aim for nighttime temp and humidity...
Hi all. Just bought a vacation home in Little River SC and reaching out to those in the know about these plants. Pics attached. First one is dandelion right? We're from NY.
Love all the advice I get here. I had no idea that my baby Russian, Caspian's care would take so long to get right. He wasn't eating and his eyes seemed a bit swollen. He saw vet who I got some decent advice from and especially from this forum. His nighttime hide is now at least 80% humidity...
Hi. New Russian tortoise baby, Caspian. The cypress bark I get at pet store expensive. I did read on this forum that I can mix it with organic potting soil. What do you guys think?
I've been rearranging, checking temps, and humidity but still not sure why I can't get these right
I have a plastic shoe box with wet spanghum moss under the ceramic heater. Only getting 80% humidity. And for some reason only 77 temp.
Caspian went to vet yesterday who I liked but suggested strawberries and red pepper. He's about 3 mos old and eye lids a bit swollen. He ate very well first few weeks I had him but then stopped. He did eat the strawberries which I know is not good but it's so tempting when they're not...
Caspian, maybe a few months old. Got him from tortoise town about 2 months ago has been eating great until we took him on vacation a week ago. He did not eat for the whole week and did not eat for 2 days after we got home. A friend who had a Sulcata for many years suggested shredded carrots...
Hi. Baby Russian. He has indoor and outdoor habitat. I bring him outside in a.m. and give him bath 85 degrees and some sun. He pigs out and goes back to sleep rest of day. When I rouse him in pm he's not happy and does not eat. Should I be worried that he's only eating once a day?
Hi. Was happy when I found out my Russian tortoise, Caspian, loves mulberry leaves because I have a mulberry tree on my property. For years now it gets spots late summer. This year earlier. We've had a lot of rain and apparently this is why. I pick the new leaves without spots and he devours...
New Russian tortoise. Several months old. I heard hibiscus was good. I bought one from my local garden center but worry it was probably sprayed with chemicals. Is washing the leaves before feeding good enough?
I recently got my first tortoise. A Russian. I've had terrapins in the past. I have 2 habitats for him. One outside to get some sun with a hide if too much sun and one inside with ceramic heater. We've had some nights in the 60s. Anyone one else from the hudson valley ny?
