    Interesting Image

Hey all, I just came across this image today. I only have it in black and white so far, but still think it's pretty cool a choice to represent National Change A Pet's Life Day!

    OMG...what have I done??!!

A close friend of mine, and member of my church, has had something horrible happen to her. 3 weeks ago she thought she had a stone bruise on her foot, but it became swollen and hot. So she called an ambulance and was admitted to a local hospital with a seriously infected foot. The short...

Anybody know about the Bolson tortoise?

I just found this and have never heard of these before? Do we know them by a different name?

    What will his DNA reveal?

I have done a DNA breed test on my Bishop that should be back in a week or so. He's certainly a German Shepherd, but what is he mixed with? I'd love to hear your guesses, and will post the results when I get them. This is Bishop, we think around 6 years old. I adopted him from the shelter a...

    What is it?

@Tom Enquiring minds want to know...what's with this new avatar? Everybody else probably already knows, but I'm not up on the latest stuff like that. Please tell me! BTW, I'm back from my 6 week adventure...I had the most fun and rewarding time! And the trip was very good for Bishop...

    A Terrible Loss for Me

This morning my beloved cat, Sammy, died at the vet's office.😭😭 He had suddenly gone into acute renal failure, and despite IV fluids since Fri, was not able to recover. Sammy was a special cat (as all loved cats are) who had adopted me and Pete nine years ago. He was living under our bus...

    ??'s about a lost sulcata

My friend Lynn has lost her 12 year old, 100 lb sulcata, Boulder. He escaped his fenced yard through a gate that was not properly secured. Unfortunately, I am the one who did not secure it properly 😭. I can't stop crying and am being eaten up by guilt, as well as being heartbroken because I...

    Look at this!

Look what I found in my garage this evening! For those not from the southwest, this is a baby sidewinder rattlesnake, probably about a week to 10 days old. I came within a couple inches of running over him. He's very feisty...he shakes his tail and strikes fast. It's good he's so tiny...he...

    Friends

The totally adorable relationship I've discovered... Sulafat, my Burmese Star, is mostly nocturnal. He sleeps all day outside in his enclosure, under a corner of black shade cloth that dangles down onto the ground. I take him his dinner around 7:00 PM, so most of the heat of the day is gone...

    My newest BFF!

Hey, everybody...meet Bishop! He's an approximately 5 yr old shepherd mix, but the shepherd is very dominant. We have no idea what he's mixed with, but it seems to be giving him his small (but mighty) stature. I adopted him from our local humane society on Fri. He has a rather sad story. He...

    Is he being chewed?

I know absolutely nothing about turtles, so will go by what you "turt" folks think. My friend has 2 RES, both over 7 years old, and both male. For the past 3 months or so, they have lived together in a stock tank...I don't know how many gallons it holds. I will guess that it's about 3' x 2'...

    Is my beautiful girl....A BOY??

I found this in my almost 2 year old blue tongue skink's substrate this morning. 🦎 It has this tannish center, with a nearly clear gelatinous covering on it. It's roughly the size of a nickel. 😵‍💫 S(he)'s been very restless the past few days, trying to climb the walls, knocking over plants...

    Calling @Ray--Opo

Hey, @Ray--Opo I was shopping today and found something new, at least to me. I wonder why you came to mind??? ?

    Happy Anniversary to Me!

I just realized...I joined the forum 4 years ago today! It's still the 8th here, so I'm not too late... 5089 messages. I guess now it's 5090. What could I have possibly said in that many? Gosh everybody! Thanks for putting up with all that chatter!

    Incandescent Light Bulb

@Tom @Markw84 As most of us already know, the incandescent flood bulb is now a thing of the past. Arcadia makes one, but it is unavailable in the US. They can be ordered from England, but take a long time to get here. I found an "unbranded" version in China, but even the Chinese only had a...

    This deadly heat ?

I thought this is a good reminder of what to watch for! It works for humans too! And don't forget...the smaller the dog, the more quickly they get ill from heat stroke. Those little bodies don't have lots of skin area to get rid of the heat.

    List of 'dangerous' plants

I just found this article. It discusses many plants that are toxic, or dangerous, like having spines. I found it useful and interesting. https://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/499

14 Minutes of Adventure, Drama, and Suspense!

I was going through and deleting video events recorded by the camera in Sulafat's enclosure, when I stumbled on this. I was home on Sat evening, but had no idea this had taken place. I need to explain one thing. There is a significant difference in height between the rear of the enclosure, on...

    Need the professionals' eyes

This is my just-turning-3 yr old Burmese Star, Sulafat. I've had him (yes, he is a boy! o_O) almost 10 months. I'm really trying to stop the pyramiding that he has. It's pretty minor, especially considering his species, but I certainly want to curtail any more. The problem is that I'm not...
