I think Tiny is a nice looking one. What a good find and rescuer.

I'm thinking, with a name, all the pics and updates and the love it sounds like he is getting, and great food, that Tiny has found his perminent home, yes?:D

Tiny today. Doing great. I've decided at least for now I can keep him ... So building him his own pen with a buried hide box today. I'll post some updates as I get
'Er done.

So. My plan is to create a tunnel / cave for Tiny so he won't ( hopefully) decide to dig his own. This will not be as elaborate as a few I've seen. But hopefully will do the trick here in South Florida.

I got a Rubbermaid type container about 15" deep, 20" long , 12" wide. Cut a hole in one side for his entrance , and cut most of the bottom out so is will drain band not become a swimming pool.

I'm going to bury the tub almost level with the ground and dig a ramp / tunnel down into it. Haven't decided how to ensure the ramp tunnel doesn't deteriorate yet , maybe I'll do a plywood tunnel? I'll have to experiment with that.
The top of the container I'll put a 2" thick piece of styrofoam on the inside. Probably cover that with duct tape so no styrofoam beads fall into it. Wouldn't want him to eat that !

This should keep the ground heat in. Also plan to put a 65 watt ceramic bulb in for the really cold nights. It does get down in the 30's here usually one week out of the year. Truthfully when it gets really cold I'll just bring him in unless I can keep his hide between 75-80f. I think I can but we' ll see.
This will be an interesting project.

Very nice! Now you need to get one of those temp thingeys that you can read from your house.

A temp guage. Yes I'll have to get one of those. That would be so interesting. Maybe I can get one that shows temp and humidity. Don't know if it will read underground all the way to house ?
Wonder if anyone has tried this ?

Yes, they make remote probes. I don't have any, but they make 'em.
