Hi all, does anyone know if persimmon is safe for MEP's to eat? Leaves and fruit. I have several Japanese persimmon trees dropping ripe fruit. Seems a shame to let it go to waste. I have Red Foot's too. Think they can have some?

I can't find anything on flora feeding websites about it being toxic or not, Manouria tend to have a very steel lined stomach though. I know pawpaw is highly loved by impressa. Worth a try. It's safe for humans.

No. Don't feed it to the tortoise. Send it to me. :D Just kidding! I'd try feeding a bit of the fruit, but not the leaves.

It's perfectly fine. I feed both the Japanese/Korean varieties and the natives to literally every species in my collection. I have yet to meet a turtle that doesn't like them. I'm currently growing several trees so that I can plant them in the various enclosures when they get bigger and let them drop fruit.
I have not tried the leaves though- will need to do some more research.
Feed away!

Thanks to all for the replies. It's so hard to find feeding info for a newbie like me. The persimmon's are Japanese varieties and are essentially seedless. The birds peck at them on the tree and they fall to the ground. They just spoil there unless the deer or raccoons come up to clean. It'd be so easy to toss a couple in with the torts. I'll try one and see how it goes. Thanks all for the advice. I'll post to the Redfoot side to see if it's safe for them.
