I know that some shelled species are not exactly happy with change. But how about Russians? They are a very curious species. And my Russian peanut has to see exactly what I am doing when I put new stuff in her enclosure. So is it a good idea to switch things up? I switch things up for her but I keep her hide box alone. That is her sanctuary so is it ok to keep things fresh furniture?

Always offer some food when you change/add something, so they build a positive association. ;)

Bananas are not good for Russian tortoises. Their gut flora is not designed for fruit. Sorry.

This is funny... Yesterday my Russian was a bit sluggish. It was chilly in my house so this morning I hit the heat for a couple hours to raise the room temp. And boy did she come to life. As I was doing stuff around the house man I heard her going nuts in her enclosure. I have her in a 6 foot long by 3 feet wide enclosure I built. On the cool end I made a little shoe box tunnel. Well I go to check on her.... She somehow moved the shoe box clear across the enclosure. She moved it 6 feet to the other end and turned it totally around. And to make it even better... She somehow had to move it over her climbing rock and basking rock. Then... She took the last two pieces of her breakfast into her new area. She somehow did this with out flipping the box or anything. Lol . had to share this.. I might not sound like much but if you seen it , it was truly crazy how she did it all alone

Russians definitely like to rearrange their furniture. It is amazing what they can move.

I know right? If you take in their size and how they can move stuff around the way they do. It'd really cool
That is why you have to have relatively sturdy furniture for your Russian. Unless you want them to move it and toss it around like a beach ball :) and they could move it close enough to the walls to climb out possibly.
