How fast will an 18 year old sulcata grow?

A friend I know through a rabbit rescue got word of a sulcata tortoise that's been up for adoption for a while and the place housing it isn't very well set up for a turtle her size, so I've been doing a lot of research and I'm considering getting her. She's 18 years old but on the smaller side because she was neglected pretty badly in her previous home. I'm just wondering if she'll always be fairly small or if she'll grow a lot suddenly under better care
--thank you!

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!

She may be stunted for life, and then again, she may just fool us all and start growing like a weed.

They need four things in order to grow strong and healthy - a good diet of grasses and weeds, real sunshine, exercise and moisture/hydration. If you set her up in a large outdoor pen and provide her with a heated shed for winter, with access to outside, she may start growing. Do you know how much she weighs now?

My Dudley's growth slowed way down when he reached 100lbs at about 20 years of age. He's around 25 now, and has gained about a pound a year. This may be normal, but I think it really depends upon their genes and where their strain came from originally.

There is no way to predict this. Some grow when things improve and some don't.

Alright thank you so much for the responses :)
I don't remember exactly how much she weighs but I think the guy said she was around 30 pounds and 13 inches (if these numbers sound really off they probably aren't right but I think that's what they said about her)

I don't think Tom is. He works with the most fearsome of birds, a vulture!

She is a really cool bird. Just want to disclose, I don't own Morticia, but I have had the great privilege of working with her a few times over the years.

That picture is from a short film we shot in the desert with this really cool Australian director. Man that guy was fun. I'd work with him again any day.
