Not a stupid question ......just for some "perspective" on how big , deep , wide ect ...a Redfoots nest may be . There are several folks who I'm sure surf the forum that have no idea what it might look like ....;)

Great idea Jeff. I personally would have expected it deeper. You must have too check for diggers/layers every day/night.

This is awesome! Do all the red foot nests are that "wet""Muddy "?
I notice that when my Russian made her nests they were always dry .

Yes for RF's ...most of the time they search for a "moist area" ......and with long soaks prior to nesting she will drink a lot of H2o, find her spot and urinate quiet a bit on that spot to also help with ease of digging.

there nest are quiet sophisticated and amazingly round even in thick type mud like pictured. Usually 6"+ deep , and the eggs themselves laid ever so gently on top of/next to each other .....an amazing site to see from start to finish and it never gets old .....:rolleyes:

yes they are nice big eggs ......and " Queen " is no pee wee. She is actually a HUGE CherryHead...and the largest female of the Cherry herd.

I might add another fascinating thing is how "compacted" the soil is and how the female achieves this.
