Hi, I'm Tucker! I am doing well and growing like a weed (I eat enough of them) LOL. I'm getting ready to spend some quality time outside as soon as my mommy gets my outdoor enclosure finished :) But its still pretty chilly here in Indiana for me outside so shes got a little time.

I am growing a little bumpy for my mommy's taste. She knows that my bumpiness is due to humidity and she is trying to regulate it but its not working. Temps are good and Im eatting, drinking, and bathing great. Any suggestions on how she can regulate the humidity? She mist 3x /day. and saturates the soil every 3 days but in the morning its 80% and by noon is 38% ..she mists brings it back to 82% and so forth. Its only been in a the last few months the humidity has been an issue.

My mommy is a little paranoid that I am not doing well because of my bumpiness any feed back would be appreicate.

I think tucker looks fantastic. A little bumpy but my Beans is bumpier. I'm not sure what holes you may have but I was encouraged to find the leaks in my chamber and seal them up, so that helped keep the humidity up but it never dropped as low as yours is. Maybe an ultrasonic humidifier? A different UVB source? I was using a mvb and it was much harder to keep the humidity up with it than a regular incandescent flood bulb with lower wattage.
It never drops below 79 now and I rarely mist. I was having to most constantly before I sealed it all up. A substrate change helped as well.

^^my two Greg T babies.
And as you can see, on is smoother than the other and they live in the same chamber.

^^my humidity is 79% and above. One it dipped to 76 and I panicked and kept it more humid with misting, then ended up with soggy substrate and had to redo their enclosure LOL.

I can't open all those attachments... but I second what Elohi suggested about sealing up the holes. It makes a world of difference

@Elohi I'm very excited to hear this ;)

That was before the chamber/substrate change. But I still had holes so I had to mist often to keep it above 80%, which led to that soggy substrate.

I am having better luck with the second chamber (still haven't combined the two), because it's sealed up better and that truly helps.

These were really small gaps too. I sealed them and it's helped soooooo much.

It is a good looking Leo. Nothing serious I think.

ok, I saw the photos... cosmetically it's not too bad and definitely not affecting his health at all ;)

I have found that the humidity level under a basking lamp is much lower than the humidity in the rest of the chamber. He shouldn't be spending the majority of the day sitting under his lights.
Start off by making sure you have no holes or escape routes for the humidity in his current enclosure. Then check your temps and humidity including under the bulbs. I don't like to use high wattage bulbs because of their desiccating effects. Does he use that house/hide? You can stuff it with moss. My leopard babies LOVE to sleep buried in moss.
I keep my basking spot around 95F and let the rest of the chamber creep into the high 80's during the day. The babies spend more time cruising about this way and less time sitting under a bulb.

When he starts enjoying the outdoors make sure his pen is heavily planted. I can't stress this enough! I like them to be covered with plants and hiding in the humid mirco climate it provides. I only offer a few barren or low plant spots. Most people have a barren enclosure with only a few plants..

I will check and close up any holes or escape routes for the humidity. I do plan on having a fully planted enclosure for my little guy. That is what the hold up is. we are still supposed to get a little snow next week so I don't want to plant anything out there until I know its safe. :) Been doing lots of research on the TortoiseTable and found about 7 plants that I am going to fill it up with. Forget-me-Nots, Heartleaf Iceplant, Hollyhock, LivingStone Daisys, Pansys, Elephant Ears, and Evening primrose. Also am debating Hens & Chickens but not decided. His new outdoor enclosure is 23ft x 4ft.

I am glad that his shell is not to bad and hopefully Ill get the humidity straighten out in the next day or two and he will continue to grow smooth! :) Also I do have a hide that I keep humid but I will check into getting some moss and putting it in the hide and around the enclosure to hekp. :) Thanks Everyone.

Your leo is barely bumpy! :) I am also a leopard owner so I know the feeling, but your baby is beautiful!

Are you using MVB? I got rid of mine and have been so much happier. Much better humidity and temp control with a 65 watt flood household bulb height adjusted to 95 in basking. 2 CHE bulbs towards the sides hanging from the ceiling on 80 degree thermostat. Mine is also a modified wood chamber.

I have a UVB strip light in the back of the enclosure, plus the MVB in the basking area. The two side dome lights are CHEs set to 80 degrees on a thermostat. My temps are so good :) I will look into buying just a a different bulb for the basking area and not use the MVB.

Thanks Elohi, I will look into the ultrasonic humidifer. I thought about getting one just not sure of the kind to buy. I saw an elephant cool mist humidifer that I thought I could run tubing from this nose into the enclosure. Saw that another member did something similar but Im not sure how to secure the tubing in the nose to keep it from leaking. :( So that is my hold back on that. But i wll look into the one you listed. Also I just changed my substrate to 50.50 coco coir /organic top soil but I am going to add some moss to the hide and a few other areas of the enclosure and hopefull that will help.

He looks great. The coloring is nice too. You have to remember that those bumps may look slightly big now, but as he grows, they will smooth out. His enclosure looks wonderful and you are doing a great job raising him. Keep up the great work!

I think your Leo is looking good. Mine is also from Greg and is now 8 mos old. There is a little bumpiness on top as well but nothing too bad. I also have issues with keeping humidity above 80 consistently in his 6 foot closed chamber. At night the humidity goes down to 75 or sometimes a bit less. The humidity picks up during the daytime to around 80-87%.

Thanks Greg :) I really want him to be a big smooth guy as an adult. I saw a 60# sulcata that had NO pyramiding and beautifully round. I thought man I want my Tucker to be just as smooth :) I love his color and markings!
