Hey everybody,

Figured my first post should be here. Normally kept fish and terrapins but recently broke down my setups and acquired a 9yo Leopard Tort.

This forum seems to be highly active so i figured i would give it a shot.

Right now the weather here is getting a little on the chilly side. Decided I would convert my old setup into an indoor winter retreat.

Its only 120" x 40" x 36" but works well for now

Hello Chris and a very warm welcome to the "tort family" on TFO.
Your enclosure looks great. How old is your tortoise ?
Thanks. Its only a winter setup since MD temps get pretty cold (even though its now fall and temps are back in the 90s)

My female (Buttercup) is 9ish years old and the male (Clyde) is close to the same. 20170926_093235.jpg

Ah, now I see both of your torts. Your male is pretty smooth, but both are looking healthy and
attentivly.

The male i just recently recieved. The female was also recently recieved from a previous owner that was unaware of what pyramiding was.

Shes on a hard diet of timothy hay and broad leaf plantain now to try and level it out more

You know that pyramiding is not caused by wrong food but by too less humidity ?
It was a lack of humidity when she was a baby tort that causes the pyramided carapax.
How high are the temps and the humidity in their enclosure now ?

She was also kept on hamster bedding as a baby. Soaked ones a week, but no humidity in the enclosure and fed fruits and veggies from the store.

The outdoor enclosure humidity swings with the weather. Indoor is ~75% far side at the hide and goes down to 25-30% on the dryer side. They move about freely.
