Ctenosaura punctata. Mexican spiny tailed iguana. I raised a few of those. Neat lizards.Lately I've been seeing more and more of this variety of iguana.
Black and gray.
Very short "mane".
No dewlap on the neck and no pronounced ear spot.
I also never see these in trees.
They seem to favor rock piles and I don't see them near water like the common "green" type.

We haveLooks kinda like a Tegu too me.
My husband wants a tegu one day. After I tell him they are capable of eating cats he is gonna like them even more. He really does not like cats.We have
Tegus here.
They have scales that look like shiny black and white beads and they flick their tongues to smell....like other monitors.
Tegus eat feral cats on the plus side....
Ctenosaura are pretty, but I've never met one that seemed to enjoy handling, they've always been even more sketchy than green iguanas.
I want one too. Just don't have the room. YetMy husband wants a tegu one day. After I tell him they are capable of eating cats he is gonna like them even more. He really does not like cats.
Hmm I just got a mental image of the Cats musical suddenly being attacked by a Godzilla tegu...
That's why alerted Tom. I figured I'd be wrong. So many look the sameWe have

So, another invasive lizard in Florida?
Tom do you need to talk about it ? I'm here for you buddy .>GASP<
You are a lizard racist! They all look the same??? I can't believe you said that… Each lizard species is a unique and beautiful snowflake. I'm completely offended. Why are you triggering me? I need to go to a safe space now…
LMAO. Oops, I should have said a lot of them look the same. I love lizards. But, tell me that doesn't look like a tegu. Plus when I looked up lizards to try and figure it out, they said the tegu has become invasive to FL so I thought it was a good guess.>GASP<
