Hello, I'm a new member from Northeast Oklahoma. I happened to stumble upon this forum while doing a little research on spray painting a turtle. No I didn't not would I harm such a wonderful creator. I'm that guy that stops in traffic to help a turtle cross the road. I am glad to have found the forum and look forward to learn so much more from everyone in here.

My only question at this time is "Am I not turtley enough for the turtle club"?

Well hello from Central OK. Turtles are everywhere here. It is one of the common things to do in the rural areas called turtle racing. Yes, they do paint numbers on the turtles, and no its not the safe kind. I have suggested using only water colors or even the child safe nail polish (its not dangerous) for the hosts who feel these are a tradition and are some of the most popular parts of their events. No I don't take part, and yes I spend more time educating the people around about the need for returning the turtles exactly where they were removed from. Whenever, I happen by one of these events, I also give them information on the habits, lives, and uniqueness of each and every type of turtle.

You're a good person, but I'm willing to bet your "interference" is not welcomed. Keep at it though. Eventually someone will hear you.

I was a member here in 2013, but had some seizures and lost contact for a while. It has taken me a while to find my way back but I am glad I have. It is great to read all the information and fun things I can learn here. I am just turned 60 years old and have had turtles for about 40 of those years. I have had all kinds of box turtles, leaf turtles, Asian box turtles or Clemys Mahoutis(one of my favorites), different small tortoises and aldabra tortoises that I donated to a Science Center and Zoo and Aquarium a few years back when they were making a habitat just for Aldabras. So I gave them mine and they have flourished there. One weighs 256 pounds now. Now I have 2 Heosemys Grandis or Large Asian Leaf Turtles and two African Spur thighed tortoises. I am having fun with then and learning a lot. So that is a nutshell of my turtle life. It is nice to meet you all. Hutsie
