Hey, so she snuck 3-4 bites of dog poop during yard time. Yes, I was outside with her but she was in some higher grass and I thought she was just resting/sunning herself, but she was in fact, chowing down on some semi-fresh dog poop. I just started my dog on the Trifexis this past Monday (7.17.17). The tablet was for a 21-40 lb dog. What should I do? Is super super toxic like, she's gonna die from 3 little bites? Help, please.

I don't think there is any need for concern. The drug has passed through the dog's digestive system and has been as detoxified as possible by the dog. There have been few if any studies done on how much of these drugs are able to pass though the canine digestive system unchanged. I have asked at least three veterinarian friends about this in the past and none of them saw any real problem with it.

I would guess only trace amounts are excreted with feces and three bites is hardly a lot. I would just section off your tortoise yard from the dogs to be safe. If it makes you feel better mine ate his own poop the other day:(

Lol, thanks so much. You answered my question. I was worried about the toxicity level. Appreciate your response! :)

Well, I'm in the process of having her permenant caged in 30ft by 16ft x 3ft enclosure built in my yard. Until then, she still needs outside time. I do have the little octagon shaped pen that's netted off, but it drives her crazy being in there, she spends all her time trying to escape through the 1 inch wide bars, even though there's no earthly way she can. Ugh. Idk exactly what to do lol.

She tries to escape because she can see through the bars. If you wrap something around the bottom so she can't see out, she will probably calm down.
