Hello everyone,
I have a question. My little leopard (about 1 year old 142gr) just been dewormed yesterday and yes he has worm in his poop (under microscope) and the vet immediately put in panacur for him. He did not even touch his food today. How long will he start to eat again? Does this happen to anyone here? Should I change the substrate (coco coir & moss) to make sure the enclosure clean?

Yes, get him off the substrate and put him on paper towels until you are sure the works are gone or he could just keep getting them. Throw the substrate out or boil it. Be sure to clean up any poop right away too.
From what I have read over the years they do stop eating. I'm not sure for how long. Keep giving warm soaks daily and keep the over all temp to 85 until he gets back to normal

Hi @wellington, thanks for the info. I need to go back to the vet in 2 weeks time to repeat the deworm. I think the vet said 2 more times. How can I know if the worms are all gone? I will move my leo to the temporary enclosure and use only newspaper as the bedding. I will clean his current enclosure and change all the substrate right away. When is the good time to put him back to his original enclosure? After the second treatment or the third one?

What parasites does he have? Pinworms? Do you feed him all home grown or something that you pick in the yard? They can go on hunger strike for a week or so while worm treatment. It's alright... :)

I feed him all home grown. I have no idea of what kind of worm he has but the vet said he has 2 kinds of worms. I hope he will start to eat again soon.

My Redfoot group ate very little while they were being treated for pinworms.
Some of them passed a bunch of dead worms. Others seemed to absorb them. But they are all clear today. I check them myself.
The danger is in the eggs. They are invisible and get passed in the poop. They can live a long time outside of a tortoise and can be eaten and hatch and start the infestation all over again.

Step one:
High powered Japanese microscope bought for peanuts at a flea market.
Step two: glass slides and poo/ pure water samples
Step three: get on the internet and research tortoise parasites and what eggs look like.
Some eggs are actually kind of normal.
Adult worms in the poo are a sign that there is an infestation.
I identify the worm. Call my vet with the size and weight of the animal, and get a treatment amount. As well as type of medication.
If you have a great vet like mine. I have a sliding scale on what weight to treat and how much.
I had a rough time for a while. I learned a lot and spent a bunch.
Now I don't stress over an egg or two.
Luckily I've seen none for many months. I check random samples about once every 3 weeks or so.
This isn't for everyone.
But it's something worth trying.

Update:
She just started to eat again today. Do you think her eyelid a bit swollen or it is just my eyes that need an eye glasses?
