Felipe and Fernando are now five years old and looking like they needed more space, plus my daughter wanted the wooden planter they were living in, so I decided to build a custom house.

The accommodation is 2.5m by .7m and the overall structure is 2.9m by .8m ( the extra space at the end to house the electrics and fogger etc, the size of the bedroom was dictated by the Bearded Dragon who lives upstairs, which is just a little short of 1m although this is split to give a dark bedroom and covered area.

I have run three UV bulbs and 2 ceramic heat lamps plus a fogger (on a timer), the entire structure is double walled and lined (including the floor) with 25mm insulation boards.

Lets hope they are happy here!

Wow! Nice job. However, I'm surprised, after all we've said about the new compact fluorescent bulbs, that you went with them. They don't provide very good UVB, plus you run into the danger of having them cause eye problems with the tortoises. I saw the CHE at one end and I like the wire protection over it. Does that heat up the whole enclosure?

Looks nice. What did you treat the wood with? I've not found many options outside of pondliner to keep wood from rotting with regular exposure to moisture like that.

The execution and design is very nice.
I'm also concerned about the spiral CFL lamps.
And, without trying to be a party pooper, that enclosure is on the small side for even one 5 year old Redfoot. Much less a pair of them.
