Can anyone tell me what type of tortoise this is?

Hello new here! I just got a tortoise given to me it was found in the backyard I love turtles usually research online I have a redear turtle that I bought 3 weeks ago i bought a pair one died. Now I have the tortoise but I don't know what species they are. Any help would be great! Thanks

That is a Russian tortoise. If you found it in your backyard, then it means it is an escaped pet. Put up signs around your neighborhood to try and find the owner. In the meantime, read the care sheet in the Russian tortoise section. You can find it by going to the main menu, then Species Specific>Mediterranean Tortoises>Russian Tortoises. It will be at the top of that page.

Im guessing it is full grown, so can't tell you the age. Take a picture with a size reference. Take some pictures of the tail and I can tell you the sex.

Can someone let me know what type of tortoise this is and if it's a male or female and if I can keep it inside my house I'm from South Texas it was found in back yard

That Russian's shell is in pretty good condition. It's been well cared for before it escaped. They are notorious escape artists. They are very good at climbing and digging.

Please do what you can to track down the owner.
