Hi everyone my Tortoise table is finally ready. I would really appreciate some feedback on my build, mainly for the well being of my up and coming Hermann's. Thanks

Hi @Dazpearce1973 and a very warm welcome to the forum! :D

Your tot's LUCKY to have so much space, which - in general - is an issue for torts living indoors.

Please post pics of your tort once he/she gets home. :)

Please read the "Beginners Mistakes" Thread. There's also a section on enclosures which would help you. ;)

You're most welcome. :D

You are going to find conflicting information, which is normal. But please do NOT allow it to confuse/irritate you, ok? ;)

Thanks for the great advice. I have tried to source quality information and go with the general concensus on Tort care.
Regards Darren

What do you mean "ready"? It's a plain wood box! LOL

If your seeking POV on how to use it then I would suggest several inches of clean soil with high organic content, enough light to grow grass and weedy plants, a shallow walk-into water bowl, and alternate hides.

Water the soil down to compactness, so it is not so easily stirred up. Use loose sphagnum in the wooden hide and keep it moist.

I'll figure you got the temps and humidity sorted out?

Yes mostly sorted I have a bag of play sand which i will mix some in with generous amounts of organic top soil. with the outside being a good size i should be able to achieve a great basking spot also a nice uv set up reflecting down on a good area with a cool spot the other end. I think so but I will not sleep till they are at optimal settings. Im still in the market for some cool stuff for my Hermann to interact with. ie hides plans cactus some cuttlefish. The dead ones of course as the live ones really mess up his crib lol
