I made a tortoise feeding table/hide for PeanutButter and I'm going to make another for Jelly soon. What do you guys all think?

Looks awesome! I have just one question... what kind of substrate are you using? I just made a shelf and ramp that looked exactly like that, my tort loved it, but because of the moist substrate the wooden popsicle sticks and shelf got moldy and I threw the whole thing out today.

It's very cute. I would seal it and put something along the ramp so they can't go over the sides, land on their backs and be in big trouble.

You can easily train them to stay on the ramp. Every day I put food at the top and guided them up the ramp keeping my hand along the side.

After repeating each day, they eventually learned to keep the path and not go over. Just my own experience with my Redfoots.

Make the ramp longer so it's not as steep and put a barrier up each side so not to fall off. Creative.

And I can see a piece of jigsaw that fits ;)

I made this last night and thought of your project. From now on I'm making all of my small tort hides out of pvc trim. It was a touch expensive. One 1'×8' board 3/4 inch thick cost $21, but it was easy to work with. Maybe replicating a version of your project with pvc trim would work.

I made something similar, make sure you fence off the sides, the tortoise will try to get down the sides. Other than that my Tort loves it! ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1477073321.631666.jpg

I like it a lot!! Looks awesome. Where do you find PVC trim? Any hardware store on online?

I don't know about online, but most of the big box hardware stores should carry it or smaller hardware stores should be able to order it. If anyone looks confused when you ask just tell them that it is exactly like a wood plank but made out of pvc.

It seems super durable. My daughter was standing on it and treating like a tiny stage. Plus she opened the top and slammed it shut five dozen times.

Should clean up easily and never rot or mold. Cuts easy and I used regular general construction screws in it.

Like I said all small hides will now be made out of this.

Cheers for all the responses guys and i am going to be making a barrier for the side as I've just came to a toppled tort tonight before bed. Don't worry PeanutButter is fine we gave him a bath n popped him to bed n will keep an eye out. Also the wood i used is just ply wood got a huge 5ftx10ft piece from local hardware shop for about £11 i made my entire enclosure myself and would highly recommend doing the same. Its massively rewarding seeing the little dudes on it and you can make it to whatever specs you require! Also at a fraction of the price.

Substeate is mainly topsoil and sand mix with a scattering of coco coir
