This morning I'm out checking the turtles, it's been mid upper 90's for the past week and starting tomorrow we drop into 60-70's for highs so I was preparing a few things and stumble upon this first one, and decided to continue looking for more. Ended up with 2 but I'm guessing I will find a few more.

Supposedly heavy rains tomorrow with the cold front, so if there's anymore I hope to find them today.

Is that zipper pattern on the keel common with three toed's in general or even just with your turtles?

First one I've had like this, my others have all had perfect scutes.

Nope, been looking hard. I can't find where the nest was.

Moved my ornate group to the new enclosure just to see how they would like it and within 5 minutes three groups were mating just in time for winter. :/

We are going to need to see some pics of your new Ornate Mecca Center.

It still has a long ways to go, Rained all day yesterday so I couldn't do much. Bringing in another load of dirt on Wednesday to make it deep enough for hibernation, Leaves should start falling soon and blanket the dirt.

I plan on planting a few things this year but most will be done in the spring along with a small pond.

It will house my female onates and 3 toed after mating season next spring. All males will be in my other enclosure.

Looks like a good spot for the ladies! So I take it your going to let them hibernate outside this year in their pen? Except the young ones of course. Funny thing was I thought about doing your garage trick this year for mine and then I thought, "no need to reinvent the wheel" if you know what I mean:) I've got some prepping to do myself. Yeah your new pen should fill in nicely! My new pen this year filled in quicker than I thought. I've really enjoyed watching your turtle/tortoise center grow over the last a few years! Can't wait to see what next year brings!

I'm Still designing the building in the country.....hopefully that will happen next year.

Yeah I have a few that are going to stay in the garage but I want to give the outside a try. We are getting down in the low 50's possible 40's tonight. Crazy after having highs around 100 last week. Most of them dug in last night for the first time in a while. I came home at lunch and all of them were out getting Sun but when I got home this evening all are back in the turtle house dug in again. I sure hope there aren't a few more of those babies that I can't find.

Reminds me of the Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene, although I think these two have more self serving intentions. Who won? So no more babies, huh? Maybe you'll find some in the spring.

I think they both won, I had 6 worms in there and all were gone in 10 minutes

No more babies, I wouldn't be surprised to find some this spring

My guys are really confused with the weather. We had some days around 100 last week, then cooled off into the 60-70's. then back to 90's this week but Friday's high is 63 and low mid 40's. Went out tonight and everyone is buried and the food wasn't touched so I'm sure they know what's going on. getting nervous about doing the outside hibernation this year. It's been 6 years since I last did that. I got a few of my favorites that will stay in the garage this winter though.

At least you get a break during the winter, Craig. Here in the tropics, it's never gotten below 62 degrees ever! So all of our hard-shell buddies are alert, awake, & hungry all year round. They do slow down a bit & stay under cover during the rainy season, but nothing like hibernation. Oh, & we have neither heating or cooling in our houses, too.
