How many active members are there on this forum. Like 100 post and over.
Post at least 3x a week?
Is there a way to tell ? I know it says 41,000 but you see the same
People posting a lot. Didn't know how many stay and keep posting. Not asking 5 questions and leaving.

I looked in my Moderator bag of tricks and can't see a way to have it show that info. Josh (our admin) might be able to get the program to do that for him.

Just curious really .... I'm big into another forum I've been part of for years. Sounds dumb maybe but its a bodybuilding forum (not bodybuilding.com ) lol and I like it a lot.

I weighed like 301lbs 6 years ago and was looking for advice and got on the forum and with in a year I'd lost 100lbs + and started training people to do what I had done and learned from the forum.

I was just curious really. I like numbers.

I would like to know too.

When I had the turtle club here in town, we had 120 members on the rolls at one time, but only about 20 of them ever attended meetings. It would be interesting to know of the 41,000 members how many have been banned as spammers and are still carried in the count. And how many visit at least once a day, etc.

Being nosey I was looking and you see a lot of new accounts pop up when something free for adoption comes up and they comment get contact then disappear.

I wish we had club here in town !!!
That would be so cool !!!

Would be awesome !!! See en though I'm sure there are a lot of people who owned turtles and tortoises for years like me. In TN it just became legal June 21st of this year. I had just gotten mine in Florida 15+ years ago when it was legal and when it became illegal years later I wasn't getting rid of him. So a lot of people are just now coming out of the woodwork with there turtles / tortoises.

Imagine all the 13 inch sliders people Just purchased on June 22 lol.

Fun. I'd be interested to know too. In just the short while I've been on, it seems like quite a few people that come to mind seem to be really active in cycles.

On the other hand I've been surprised a few times by the "silent" community members reaching out. Just recently someone I'd never seen post before tagged me and referenced a post I had made to help someone with some info. --Made me feel really good! :) Every once in a blue moon I receive a PM from someone who doesn't post, but wants to ask a question. Once a comment I made somewhere on a random thread made someone feel comfortable enough to ask me to post for them on their behalf because they were concerned about mentioning their location, but needed to post a country-specific thread. I also find it interesting to see the number of views on a thread increase and increase even though there aren't a ton of people talking.

I think there are far more people actively reading than we realize. I also have come to see that people on other reptile/tortoise forums are checking up on what is discussed here. For example, I know that the Tortoise table has increased and even altered it's database based on things that are posted here.

I often post on "Prairie Mom's" threads for the very simple reason that, although I've never met her, nor do I even know where she lives, I have a strong, respectful, high school crush on her. I mean really, a lady that loves tortoises the same as I do? Just imagine … we'd have babies in no time (tortoise babies that is)! ! LOL

Where I lived 10 years ago, for 15 years, there was the Oregon Herpetological Society. Unfortunately for me they have monthly meetings on a Thursday, and are about 100 miles south of me. I was a very active member and yet I needed to step down when I moved. I was the editor of the newsletter for two,(2) years, then the elected president for five,(5) years. We would participate in children festivals and the like to reach out to the public and show that not everything was creepy and scary. At the time I kept snakes and I felt great winning over reluctant parents with education while their little Timmy or Lisa would dance showing off the snake they were handling. Changing hearts and changing lives of young and old alike while giving good education was simply outstanding and something I miss each year.
I say all this babbling to suggest if you think you should have one in your town, start it! Pull up the rope and be the anchor. I suggest naming it something like the Denver Herpetological SOCIETY,(or city you live) and call it a Society not a club. Society, simply because other organizations will treat you with more respect and acceptance than a "club". And have it be inclusive of all reptiles as well as amphibians to attract more members.
Good luck, and let us know how it's working out. After 10 years, I've yet to start one up here, if only because I'm lazy.

Totes agree. I doubt 'Midnight club' would've been as cool as the 'Midnight Society'. ;)

Aww, just give me one dinner maybe? Do you eat cooked, dead cow? Or do you complete with tortoises for food? I cook a mean steak and a wonderful roast with REAL smashed potatoes and homemade gravy. No boxes with my cooking to impress. I tell you what.
And what the heck? On your profile it shows I'm only 21 yrs your senior. As Hank Jr. puts it, I maybe old, but I ain't used up. LOL Now I can't wait to show this post to my honey. Have a wonderful day my dear!

:D Heck yeah! The meal sounds delicious!!! I hope to genuinely take you and your honey up on that some day. I have a map of the National Parks that the kids and I are hoping to put many pins in. I'm thinking that I will need to start knocking on members' doors as we slowly poke our way around the road map.
