It's hot in here.........

It's a coming.
Jeff. I know you spray a pipped egg to help them out. Those 4 surrounding eggs also look very wet. Is this because of high humidity or have they caught some of the spray too. If so have you ever had problems with cracking whole eggs that get sprayed.

A little of both.....no problems with a cracked egg or explosion - as this is usually related more of a quick and major decline in temperature...just my own experience. The incubator stays at around 92% humidity itself.
What's neat is this is not the time usually for Reds' to be hatching ....at least not in my Hood~;)

Craig ....I might also add ....the incubator itself is a 6 tray system. Within those trays and different levels - I try different methods of hatching. For instance some of the trays are open with no lids on the "box" ....while others do have a lid on the box within the trays. This allows me to try different methods as mentioned by tweeking temps and humidity's all within one system.

Jeff. What is your average hatch rate success within clutches. (That's probably an impossible question to answer). I'll rephrase, do you get any regular 100% clutch hatch rates. Have you ever tried a nightime drop in temps?

Craig ..our success rate is about 75% , we have had plenty of 100% clutch rate hatches. I would like to contribute the higher percentage rates due to more mature females and males, rather than temps and humidity. Yes we have tried a slight diapause to replicate different times of year and location- Why we have tried the last few years the “open top” vs. “closed top” within the same bator’ to gather more data and rates. I know for sure the Hypos’ take about an extra 40-50 days to hatch out, which is an interesting fact.

I would just LOVE to experience hatching an egg sometime! Not like you on big scale. Just for the experience of it. I think it's one of the neatest things! Miracle of life!
