Im sure thats a male..
My russian male isnt mature of shown any signs of sexual maturity BUT i would assume that not all male tortoises pull out their man parts every time they are soaked.
If they do.. Then i still hope my male never matures.
Hahahaha hahahahahahah I have been told it's rather spectacular!

Thank you for your help. I'm going to get him an old leather shoe and see if any magic happens!

You can't really force a flash, and people can mistake prolapsed insides for healthy male sex organs, so I'd either Google up some tort genitalia as a reference (if you dare) or go by other sexual characteristics.

If you want to try and get him to flash, though...just be off-guard. They tend to do it right when you least expect it. Probably when you have company over. :p

Good morning!

So I got up this morning preparing myself to be checking out Fred(a)s butthole to decipher whether it's a girl or a boy.
He pushed up on his legs and his tail came down, thinking he was gona poop I took a closer look.
I thought I saw poop but HOLY MOLEY that was not poop.

Genuinely traumatised for life.

But at least I have an answer now.

Old shoes won't be necessary...if you end up with one of THOSE males, they'll find rocks, food, holes dug in the ground and the stray bouncy ball PERFECTLY satisfying! :D

Looks like a male to me. The vet saying female is concerning.
I've been told by a vet that mine is definitely 100% female and to not even question it, shortly after he started flashing. Mine is an RF so his sex characteristics are more obvious which makes it even more concerning...

Russian torts don't have the same obvious secondary sex characteristics, I think vets don't realize this so they look for traits that won't be there and since they're not there they decide the tort is female. I wonder if they ever stop and think about why the Russian torts they see are ALL "female". :D
