Hi - I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any special diet we can or should put our Desert Tortoise on while she awaits bladder stone surgery. The surgery is being arranged by those we adopted her from...so will be within the next couple weeks. She is active and still has a good appetite. Just wondering if there is anything we should be giving her that will help keep her comfortable and ease any potential issues until the surgery date comes.

I am not sure which parts of diet cause bladder stones, but assume that plenty of water is vital just as for humans. Lots of soaks.

Yes...we are currently at two soaks a day. I'm going to up that to four if/when we possibly can. I've also read that onion juice and cucumbers can help with breaking stones up. Any issues with trying to get her to eat cucumbers and/or making her drink some onion juice that you all can think of??

She LOVED her cucumber tonight. And she did pass some milky colored pee tonight. Definitely still going in for the surgery...but if I can help make the stone smaller in the meantime...well, that would be amazing. :)

Stumbled on this thread. How did it go? Any follow up pictures to share. Hoping all went well.
