i am an active member and wanted to let everyone know The Turtle and Tortoise Club of Florida Clearwater Chapter is always helping rehome turtles and tortoises. I am the president and vice versa if you are looking to adopt we can help you. We screen everyone even our own mothers LOL. Yes we would. So if you are a flipper don't waste my time.

We just rehomed some males only 50-60 LBS.
Do you live in Florida?. How long have you been keeping tortoises?. Have you kept sulcata before? How long did you kept them? Remember this is the third largest species of tortoises. It is a giant gopher tortoise that can and will dig a huge burrow. How big is your outdoor enclosure and what is your plan for winter?. What diet are you going to feed it?. Will it be able to graze naturally?.

A good person to call is Marvin Bennett . He was one of the founding members over twenty-five years ago. He is a great person. 407-851-0198 . Tell him Mark the president from the Clearwater Chapter referred you.

I'm in Wesley Chapel and will be looking to adopt a tortoise in the near future. I'm researching and building an enclosure now. Once I'm ready to adopt I will definitely get in touch with you

Good to hear about you. I have raised my 3 year old Brown Mountain tortoise since getting him as a 20 day old hatchling from Vic Morgan. Would be happy to consider an adoption of another Mee or Mep. I'm in Boynton Beach. Any clubs nearer to me? Thanks!

Ron,
You are closer to the Orlando Chapter. We are in Clearwater on the West Coast. Our chapter will be at the Tampa Repticon Show June 11 and June 12 . I will be there on Sunday at our table. Also, we will have our monthly meeting that night in Clearwater at 7:00 PM our Annual Scavenger Hunt.

Thanks for the info. I would have liked to meet you Sunday, but have conflict that will force me to miss the show altogether this weekend. We usually go when they are in West Palm or Fort Lauderdale. Have a great time!

Would be our chapter in Clearwater.
Thank you. I'm moving to Pensacola next month. I'm going to get the enclosure and everything ready before I look but how would I connect with the club to get on a list for adoption/rescue?

Contact me and I will get you in contact with our secretary and you will go through our screening process. I apologize ,but we been burnt by people who adopt then you find the animal for sale on Craigslist, in a pet shop, or at a reptile show. We usually have native turtles, large male sulcatas, and once in awhile something unusually.

No worries. We have 3 Great Danes and I'm active with Dane rescue organizations so I understand the screening process necessary. I'd be looking for a red foot ready for outdoor enclosure (no hatchlings) is that something that the club would have available sometimes?
