Female as it has a short tail with a puckered anal opening. Eye coloration is not generally always a reliable characteristic for determining sex but generally males have red iris and the females are brown. Beautiful healthy turtle!
Yeah I'd say female as well. The #1 indicator is the tail, the concave plastron and red eyes are secondary gender characteristics that, while about 90% chance of male, are not always a cut-and-dry indicator of gender. I've seen females with red eyes and concave plastrons popping out eggs, and I've seen males with brown eyes and flat plastrons with their....appendage out during a soak. So really the tail is the only affirmative way to tell. Also her back talons aren't as curved as a male's generally are. But my question is; where is this turtle from to have that much shell damage? Is she a rescue/rehome?
