Hi from HI

Aloha,

My name's Preston and if you haven't guessed it yet, I am from Hawaii. Never had a tortoise before, but I've always been interested in getting one. Just never quite had the means (or the permission when I was a kid, lol) to have a tortoise. I still don't quite have the means or space for one at the moment, so I don't think I will be getting a tortoise quite yet, but in the mean time I wanted to do all the research I could so that when the time came I would be ready and able to raise up a great little guy or gal.

So far, my favorite tortoises have got to be Leopard Tortoises and Yellow Footed Tortoises! Some hybrids I've seen really interest me as well and I wonder how they are doing now days. (I'm referring to the redfoot x leopard tortoises in particular from a few years back.)

Glad you found the forum! Welcome from California. I researched for a few years before I decided to get a sulcata.

How old/big is your Sulcata now? I hear they've got great, outgoing personalities and can be rambunctious (which I'd love in a tortoise!).

Dex is 3 years old, 15-16 inches in length and 22 pounds. She is pretty outgoing and the personality is still emerging. She's been a lot of fun!

Of course I don't mind. It's a Greek tort which I've had for just over four years.
