This past winter I picked up a large 18ft industrial drain pipe .. well I cut it down to three pieces ,then I cut them in half right down the center. I placed them in the leopard sulcatas, red foot, and my aldabra pen.. they took to them right away. These make great affordable hides If you have multiple pens or larger tortoises . They come in various sizes. You can get them small enough for box turtles/ Russians, or large enough for giant species.

Good idea - are they heavy enough not to blow around in winds?

I haven't encountered that problem yet. They are light enough to transfer to different locations with out any problem.

Instead of cutting them in half you can just bury them halfway in with dirt. Then they wouldn't blow away anywhere.

I tried my tort with cat play tunnel - only made of nylon but thought it may give him something new to explore when outside, and he loves going through it or having a quick snooze in it. Only let him use it while I'm there though as he tried to turn himself around in the middle and got stuck, His weight keeps it pretty stable but don't want to risk him flipping over in it.

Seiff .. that is what I am planing on doing as soon as it dries up a little and I can get a couple of scoops of soil. I am going to put a small hill in my aldabra pen with the tunnel going through it, I am going to plant grass seeds and my kudzu vine on the top of it with her cactus planted on the bottom... I like to cut them in half because it make two out of one, and I like to rearrange there pens every now and then and it makes it easier to move them around to different locations.
