Hi everyone- I just wanted to give an update on my leo's who both had respiratory infections in January. Both are doing much better and have gone from weighing 38 and 39 grams up to 94 and 104 grams. The smaller tort had another recurrence of runny nose syndrome in early march but it went away within a few days. They are living in a mostly closed chamber now (just holes for the CHE's and Powersun bulb). They are getting daily soaks and are eating like pigs. I still worry that they might get sick again but they sure seem to be doing a million times better. I will post pictures of them soon. Thank you to everyone who offered their advice.

I wasn't involved in the forum back then, but am extremely delighted that a happy ending was achieved.
And we love photos here.

Ok so I haven't taken any more recent pictures yet, but I thought I would post this screen shot of one of my torts digging around near his food dish. This is a screen shot from my computer. I watch my tortoises while I'm at work each day from my drop cam that is mounted on top of their indoor enclosure. I used velcro to mount the thermometers on top of the enclosure so that they would be in view of the camera for me to monitor during the day.

Thanks! I sunk the water dish further into the mulch...thanks for the tip. And yes...Leo's are awesome! I'm really enjoying watching their shells change appearance with all of the growth lines they have right now.

Yes, I love the camera idea. Maybe I'll do that sometime. I'm glad they are doing better. Luckily I was already eyeballing this site when I got my Burmese mountain tort babies or an RI may have happened here too. I have a question. I see that the temps are displayed but how do you measure your Humidity? My Hygrometer readings are displayed with my temps. I just ask because your Plexiglass top isn't fogged up at all. Mine literally drips all over the place when I open it. My humidity isset higher(different species though). I have it set for 85%-95%.

I have a hygrometer mounted inside the enclosure, but not within view of my camera. I want to get one that will display both but haven't yet. Which one do you use? The humidity inside the enclosure averages 60-70% but I use a very warm, very humid plastic hide that both my torts spend their days and nights in when not eating, soaking or roaming. The hide is always fogged up and dripping when I open it and stays at 90-95% humidity all of the time. I spray the moss inside sometimes but I have a sponge mounted to the top that I keep pretty wet. Their hide is at the far end of the enclosure, opposite the camera. Before I mounted the thermometers on top of the plexiglass you could see the hide, but it was either block the view of that or block the view of the food and water dishes. I also have soil underneath the cypress mulch and I pour water on that a couple of times a week. The powersun bulb dries out the cypress on top but the soil stays a little moist underneath to help with humidity. Also in the enclosure, on the far left (and still very hard to see) is an aqua stone. Its a natural, electricity-free humidifier that I fill with water twice a day (the stone is big and theres no way a tortoise could get in and drown).

Ahhh...That would work. : ) Mine are mountain torts that are from forested areas and require lots of humidity so I just made their whole habitat humid. I dont remember the brand of Hygrometer i have. I bought two and both work. The round button one are crappy. I had 3 of them in the same tank and none read the same on any given day. Possibly because the very high humidity got in them and shorted them out? I switched to a hygrometer that was on aa cord so my humidity and temp are read inside the table but the actual equipment is outside of it. Check out amazon.com and just pick one with your requirements that has high reviews. They're only about 10-15 bucks

Here is one of mine. Good thing I went to check! My daughter unplugged the light to plug in her charger....The temp and humidity fell a bit.

Yikes. Yeah my dad lives with me and he is always tripping over all of my wires which is why I put the camera up to make sure that everything is still plugged in while I'm gone during the day. So that temp/hygrometer has been holding up well? Mine seem to have a short life, even when mounted outside the enclosure.
