What a heart-warming story. Ya gotta' give those folks who adopted him a whole lot of credit for trying to find Toby's owner.

I just love the good people of the world. And I love how the owner described getting all "goosey". I'm all goosey about this story.

I noticed something in the comment section after the article. A commentor says, "Don't paint your tortoise". And that is so right, BUT ...
Had Mrs. Stokes not put "Stokes" and her phone number (which was faded away at this point),
the good people looking to find his once upon a time home would have never ever had a clue that little Toby belong to a Stokes person.
So that is an interesting thing. Bad thing to paint a tortoise, yes. But in this case, it was a very good thing. Love this happy ending.

Also, can anyone tell us what kind of tortoise Toby is? That face. It's like a little caramel, so sweet.

Wonderful story, I love happy endings! :)

I have read a story in a German newspaper recently, the first article (published in autumn) was about a desperate owner searching for an old tortortoise that was stolen out of their garden. Now they wrote in another article that the thief had brought the tortoise back, very dirty but in good health.
Another happy ending, but I'm afraid the thief might come again next autumn. :p

A really smashing story.
Thanks so much for posting it Lyn.
It lifts my spirits when I know there is still some good left in this world.
