They are outside all year. I have two 12' x 3' x 3' (L x W x H) heated refugia for the cold spells and corral the torts into them when the temps are due to drop below 50ish.
So what would you consider to low a temperature for them to be outside(for me i mean).

Hatchling - 4" - 60 (maybe 65)
4"+ - 50
...as long as there is access to bright sunshine early in the morning and expected temps to be above 70 otherwise add 5 degrees.

Ok. I'm trying here. Took everything out lined it with pond liner.all by myself:) Got coco coir layerd that on bottom. Then mulch and moss on top. I went down in watt on my heat lamp, hoping it would help. Package said 90 degrees. Its only heating it 80 now. I may have to put 100wt back in. I can't find a way to safely put a che in right now? Humidity is between 50 and 60. Its better than 25 but nowhere near 80. I added fake plant thing he likes it. I tryed to find real plants but not happening this time of year. How am I doing?

That looks good. Are you checking your humidity directly under the light bulb. Your temp is too low. Have you left the lid on your enclosure for a while to see if the temp raises.

No its not right under my light. Should it Be? On one side its stayed 65 the other side 43. The temp is 83 one side and 75 the other.I've left it alone for a couple hours. I'm going to have to put the other bulb in bit that makes it too high. I wish I would of talked to you before he came. The people at the pet store just laughed at me!

Hi Trisha

You need to use a thermostat so it controls the heat at a desired temperature. But to do this its best to use a CHE bulb, with a normal bulb you don't want a light switching on and off all day as it controls the heat. Your light will come from the UVB. So what you need now is a ceramic socket for your CHE bulb
and a thermostat. I really don't know what your budget is but I use HABISTAT thermostats. A basic one is £33 over here. Also I don't know what is availlable over on your side of the pond, you could do with someone over there helping you with this. @Yvonne G or @Jacqui may be able to help you and also help with your enclosure. Remember Trisha that your thermostat will save you money on electricity, at the moment you have had a 100watt bulb on constantly with a CHE and thermostat I reckon it will be on about half that time throughout the day.
And that is correct, you don't want to check humidity directly under the heat source, it will always give a lower reading than anywhere else.
I may be wrong but it looks from your photo's that your substrate is still a bit on the dry side. Did you dampen the coco before putting the cyprus mulch on. Spray all your substrate and any rocks, plants. I have lumps of old wooden(like drift wood) that I spray every day. As they dry out they add to the humidity.
Persevere you nearly there. :D
