Welcome to the forum, Mary!

That's just the cutest little baby. I love that his shell looks like it has been sewed together. I'm not familiar with the elongated tortoise species, but let's send a shout-out to @HermanniChris I'll bet he'll know the answer.

I actually received this lil cutie from a girl in her twenties, said she worked at an animal rescue...but was feeding him regular lettuce. I have no idea of his age :/ or if hes looking healthy, his eyes are clear, he eat very well and is pretty speedy. Not to skittish. Loves soaks.

Ive always wanted a tort, my boyfriend is a well established tattoo artist and struck a deal with the girl, a tiny tattoo for him. Maybe a $75 tattoo? We didnt know much about elongated torts, id say we got a pretty fantastic deal?

Heck yeah! Helluva deal.

I'm sorry to say that we don't have a care sheet yet for this species, but here's a link to a nice article about them:

http://www.chelonia.org/articles/elongatacare.htm

From just skimming the article, it looks to me like you can treat them more or less like box turtles, including feeding them worms and crickets, etc. Interesting.

Anyone have an idea about his age? Or if he looks on good shape?
Looks good, active, alert, and not reclusive. less than a year old. They are just like box turtles diet. Worms, snails, greens, fruits, and mushrooms are a favorite. They won't bask much, so an even mid 80s temp range is good for them. They like to retreat under plants and hides and are very active early and late evening. They also enjoy a nice warm water spray every day.

I was just talking to @Benjamin about them yesterday, and @HermanniChris at the last Hamburg show. I can't believe this species isn't more popular. They are hardy, relatively cold tolerant, beautiful, endangered, and they don't get too large at all. Chris had some for 100 bucks at Hamburg, but all anyone wants to ask about is the 70 dollar sulcatas. Sad.

Agreed. They're very underrated.

Did you copy this sentence or what? :p
(ADORABLE baby torts too ;) )

Yeah, it was easier that way.

Since reading this thread, I've been thinking about elongated. I have just the place for them, right in between a Manouria yard and a Yellowfooted yard. I'll have to keep my eyeballs peeled.

I'm thinking about them too. I've always had forstenii in my five year plan, but elongate might be a slightly better fit for me for various reasons. Who knows..

All indotestudo are fantastic. Forsteni can get quite aggressive though. I'm sure you know through Ben though :)
