I have had my two babies since July 12, 2012. They stared out on romaine lettuce and about 6 months ago, switched to spring mix. They're kept in a nice 46×22 (I think that sounds right) and it's open cage. They have a long uva/uvb light and a double dome light hanging down, one heat and one sun. They also have a nice dish to get in to soak. Humidity is around 50%.
I was just wondering any tips at all for the pyramiding or just in general. The one looks good. Pyramids but very well spaced. The other doesn't show as much pyramiding but some scutes haven't grown apart? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Firat what cuties i also have to little leopards that where pyramiding when i got them iv got it to stop and start to smooth out looks like you use coconut coir you have to wet it every day and keepin your enclosure closed what i did was put card board over the top you would have to do the.sides.to high. humidity will get them to smooth out i. soak mine every other day for 30 mine. and i swear the smoothing out happens faster useing coconut oil on there shell and they look about the size of mine and im.makeing them a 5 and half by 5 and foot enclosure. I think yours may need a bigger one but heres a pic of mine

They need a much bigger enclosure, a better diet and a higher humidity. Romaine since 2012 and now spring mix is a very bad diet, they need a big variety. Check out the tortoisetable.org.uk for a variety of edible items. Also, without more room, much more room you will be raising them with walk g problems, like one I had rescued. Could barely walk because of its bad diet and too small of an enclousre. Much upgrading is needed here.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!

You can read the pinned threads shown at the top of our Leopard section, and also the pinned threads at the top of our sulcata section (the care is the same). Baby tortoises in Africa hatch out during the monsoon season. It isn't dry, but very moist and lots of greens to eat. Pyramiding happens when a baby tortoise is kept in a dry environment. You can't fix what's already started, but you can stop it. Read those threads.

Here's a better picture too. I keep the soaking dish near the heat. Can anyone give me recommendations for further food?

Hey there! You came to the right place for advice!

For leopards the best diet would be fresh weeds and grass but babies usually don't bother with it. There are many store bought greens you can buy: escarole, kale, collard, mustard, turnip and dandelion germs to make a few. The best thing would be to grow your own but that's not always easy.

You definitely need to upgrade their enclosure asap. Try finding a large (at least 3'-6', larger if possible) bookcase and turn it into a table. Or build your own enclosure but make it as large as possible. Do you torts have an outdoor enclosure they they can get some real sunshine in? If not, that is something they will need as well.

They have access to cuttlebone. I live in West Virginia so they aren't allowed out unless it's hot and summer
