RE: Hi Everyone!
Hi there, KBisMe, and welcome to the Forum!!

It looks like a hatchling sulcata. Do you know about them? They get BIG!!! Go to the Sulcata section here on the forum and read the "Important Threads" up at the top of the section. You will learn almost everything you need to know about caring for a baby sulcata.

RE: Hi Everyone!
Thank you! I was pretty sure they were sulcatas, but wasn't positive. I got 2 from a neighbor who go them from a friend. Lol. I have been reading a lot about them and am excited, but a little overwhelmed too. My backyard is nothing but dirt right now, so I'm looking up all the different ways of building a good housing structure and food supply for them. I just got them yesterday, so I have them in an aquarium inside right now. I'm so happy that I found this site so quick! I was up till 3 am reading all the info about how to care for them properly. I have a lot of shopping to do! Smile

RE: Hi Everyone!
Thank you!! I thought I replied to this from my phone, but seem to be having issues figuring out how to use it Lol.

I'm so glad I found this forum! I got these torts from a neighbor through a random chain of events and didn't fully know what I was getting myself into. I was pretty sure they were sulcatas, but wasn't positive. I have read through quite a few of Tom's threads and think I have a pretty good idea of where to start now. I just got them yesterday, so I have them in an indoor aquarium with dirt from outside. I have a lot of shopping to do in order to get these little guys properly set up! They are enjoying soak time right now and then it's off to the store so I can get supplies to make a safe outdoor house for sun time. Smile

RE: Hi Everyone!
No, there's no problem with your posts. In the Introductions section, where we say, "Read this before posting for the first time," we tell new members that their first 5 posts have to be approved by a moderator before they show up on the forum. If a mod isn't online when you post, then you have to wait a while until one of us sees and approves it. (Sorry!)

RE: Hi Everyone!
She kept 3! I thought I was nuts for getting 2 Lol. I'm already obsessed and feel like I've checked on them 20 times today. I need to make a trip out to Lowe's ASAP though. I live in a small town and I went to Ace hardware, pet club, and Walmart and couldn't find everything I need. I have read so much on here and my head is spinning Lol. I need to make a list and figure out where I need to go to get everything.

RE: Hi Everyone!
Actually three at this age can be better then two as far as allowing each tortoise to have a break. Big Grin Of course, easier to find room for two adult sulcata, then three, especially if they end up each needing their own enclosures. Don't be super concerned, if you don't get everything today or get everything fixed right. It takes some time and tweaking to get things set up just right for you and your tortoises. You will get there, don't worry.

RE: Hi Everyone!
Thank you so much! That makes me feel so much better. I was feeling a little panicked because they have no lights yet and I have no idea what the temps, etc are. I wish I would've known what type of torts they were before getting them so I could have read up on their care needs in advance.

RE: Hi Everyone!
Welcome...boy you did what I did. I took two babies from my friend whose tortoise had clusters of about 18 and 16. Unfortunately, I did not find this forum until my babies were 8-9 months old. I didn't know squat about temps and humidity, although I got a heating blanket for them just because I had a water turtle that required a heater when the temp went below 70. I'm so glad that you'll know what to do sooner. Keep us posted w/pics.
