RE: Help! Injured box turtle!
He opened one eye today so it looks like he will have vision in at least one eye! Smile I am taking him to the vet at 5:00 still.
Blessings!

RE: Help! Injured box turtle!
The vet visit went well. I guess getting his head stuck like that cut off some of the blood supply so his eyes bulged out to the point where the eyelids tore open. His outer eye lids are in pretty bad shape, but the inner ones are fine. Both his eyeballs are still there, so now we just have to wait for him to heal. She said I did everything right with him, so that feels good. Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes for the little guy. Smile
Blessings!

RE: Help! Injured box turtle!
He is still recovering. One eye looks pretty good. The other eye still looks pretty bad. I have him inside full time and he is pissed, but I don't want him digging down in the dirt and getting it infected.
Blessings!

Shy RE: Help! Injured box turtle!
Aw, poor little tort guy for not being outside, but he will get over it and be a happy and healthy when he recuperates.

You are doing the right thing to keep him inside away from constant temperature changes, germs from dirt and other stuff. Turtles immune systems can be compromised by stress and injury and should not be taken lightly.

Speedy recovery Mr. Tort! Tortoise
