How old is my red foot tortoise?
I've had my red foot tortoise for about a month now and she (or he) is about 3" long shell length. Just wondering what her general age range might be.

Oh, cool! Thanks! I thought she would be around 1 years old because I heard redfoots only grew a few inches each year.
That explains why she sleeps in her hide a lot, but she is pretty active during the afternoon.

RE: How old is my red foot tortoise?
Most captive bred, well fed redfoots are typically (with exceptions) closer to 4 inches at 1 year. My Darwin, who is probably a little over a year now, hit 4 inches a month or two ago.

RE: How old is my red foot tortoise?
Do bear in mind in the wild they would have a much less rapid growth, I have grown mine slowly and he is 2, only 3 inches, Northern form and perfectly healthy.
