Where can I get the shell spraying? I usually just soak my tortoise for about 20 min or so like twice a day but I've heard about shell spraying, Idk where I can get that?

RE: shell spray??
People just spray their torts shells with squirt bottles or garden sprayers with warm water. This is of course is for hatchlings. Hoses and sprinklers are for the bigger torts.

RE: shell spray??
Some people rig up misters. Aldabraman uses massive lawn sprinkler things. Many of us use a hose in the garden occasionally on hot days.

It depends on the specie of tort, whether it's kept indoors or out, it's enclosure and the weather in your area.

RE: shell spray??
I was wondering if you were talking about putting a topical on your tortoise, products like VitaShell, and not just spraying with water. I don't like to use topicals or any creams or lotions because in my opinion, it might cause the tortoise to overheat when dirt sticks to it.

RE: shell spray??
I just use plain water out of a spray bottle.

The idea is to keep your growing baby tortoises shell moist and hydrated as much as you can. Moisture between the scutes helps keep things pliable and growing smoothly. In my area, (VERY dry), I see a big difference when I shell spray 3-4 times a day, vs. when I don't. They grow much smoother when I spray.
Some lessons I learned the hard way, so you don't have to:

RE: shell spray??
I use all... From hose, to misters, and even spray bottles. I have one designated for Warm Water with Vitamin E oil. Its in a tiny pink spray bottle from the dollar store so i never confuse it. I also use VitaShell. Great product, and its a great way to bond with your tort since you rub it in, its like tons of pettings... :-)
