Hey everyone!
Hey, my name is Damien and I live in Las Vegas NV . My girlfriend and I have been looking for the cheapest tortoise we can find but no luck. we don't have much money so it would have to be 60 dollars or under. I hope to have a new addition to my family soon , were trying to get everything ready before we purchase one so it will have everything it needs. So if anyone knows of any really cheap to free tortois's and cheap tortoise equipment please let me know, thank you . ^^

RE: Hey everyone!
Welcome Damien!!! If I were you I would really save my money and wait to buy a tortoise if your limit is 60 dollars. The costs can really add up and put you in a bind if you have no extra cash to get what is needed for your tort (things like vet bills or other supplies you may need). I would scroll through craigslist and try to find something local to you and maybe you can buy a tort with its setup included. Good luck!!!

DITTO Depending on the kind of tort you get. It will just about be the cheapest thing you purchase. Lighting and heating devices will run you around 80-100. Then the enclosure, substrate, water soaking dish, eating stone, tort hides, food, and vet bill if needed. Then again depending on the size of the tort. The first enclosure may not last long and you will have to buy or most likely build another, then possibly another. Oh, ya, you may need two enclosure anyway. Depending on where you live and size and kind of tort. One for inside, one for outside.
Almost forgot. Hello and WELCOMEBig Grin

RE: Hey everyone!
Hi! What about a Desert tortoise? Do you have the space in your yard for one?

RE: Hey everyone!
Hi Damien:

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

Jacqui has a good idea there. You can usually find a club or rescue that is adopting out desert tortoises, however, it would have to live outside.

If you want to buy a tortoise, the price of the tortoise is the least of your expenses. I suggest you re-think the idea of buying a tortoise until you have more money.
