What are these white spots?
The largest spot appeared when he's born last year... The vet told me it's hurt by rough surface like stone. But yesterday I found there's two new white spots.... What are these? Is he sick? I'm so worried ;( thanks!!!!!

RE: What are these white spots?
It's hard to tell. It could be shell rot, but it seems like an odd place to get it. Could he be scraping it on something?
Blessings!

He's a diamondback and is 11 months old. The 2nd photo was taken last year. Now he's as large as my palm. I"ll take some photos when I get home. Thanks!
Here's the photo taken last year

OK so, couple more questions, i know more questions are painful when your trying to get a question answered, but, it could help, whats your water temp and depth, what are you feeding and how often, you said this developed when he was born last year or so, de he hatch with this?

my first thought is it almost looks like hes retaining scutes, has he been shedding? if it turns out that scute retention is the issue, simply up his vit. E intake and make sure his humidity stays low so he can fully dry out, and get back in the water on his own.

RE: What are these white spots?
Thanks for your advice!! I'm sorry for providing lack info... Water temperature is 26-28 'C, depth is about 5 times his thickness. I use tap water which is hard. I feed him once a day with Mazuri for fresh water tortoise which was suggested by the vet. He eats a lots within 15min. Sometimes I give him some dry small shrimps as snacks. I live in Hong Kong and I bought it at a local tortoise store. This had already developed when I love him at first sight. I have kept two more red sliders for 5 and 6 years. So, I don't think he's shedding like they do. Perhaps it's scutes retention. Is it commonly found in diamondback? Will it harm him?
Sorry for my poor English.

RE: What are these white spots?
Its mineral deposits from a scute layer that will eventually flake off..........Water gets up under that scute, dries, and ends up being what is in the picture........You can scrub it off, but it will more than likely come back - Especially in a younger animal that sheds more frequently.......
